  • This week I've been working on 7 value sketches in watercolor for new commissioned paintings. As always I tell you what's on my mind and this week I spoke about the system we build together. It seems to make us stronger but some of us feel captivated by it.

I love Autumn so much, I legally changed my middle name to Autumn. 🍂
I always love the slow, meditative quality of your videos. We need more content like this in our fast paced world. From one artist to another, thank you for yet another beautiful video. I look forward to your next one!

I felt sorry that winter is coming to North Carolina until my eyes were opened by the intensity of cloudless blue skies and reds and golds of autumn.

Hello Titus, I haven’t commented in a while, but I couldn’t put off commenting on this very special video. First, your music was a true delight to listen to because if I were imagining how you would play and sing, what I just heard, would be exactly what I would hope it to be. It compliments your art of painting so perfectly. So, now we have the visual of your painting style and audio of your music. How lucky we are! Also, your insights on the system and appreciation for freedom touched me also. I believe we are created with a free will and should cherish it our whole life. Thank God your children have you for their father as you guide and strengthen them through the system that can hurt them and shape them. Thank you for your honesty and integrity, it’s so needed in this world.

We live in such a dependent environment and we are caught up in a greater system that we often take for granted. As an artist you depend on people making paper, brushes, paint and everything you need to have the freedom to create, and as a person we need cloths, food and shelter, which most doesn't come from ourselves.. I have often thought of what it would take to really be free of all of this and truly be free of all of this and it overwhelms. But we can't exist without this disciplined complex system that we have become so dependent on and it we don't take an active role in this then what are we? So we try our best to create small freedoms that give us some feeling of being free. Great song and talk.

Such a nice calmness in your pondering and topics. I feel sadness when you talk about your son and the school system....I think many children all over the world are experiencing what he is. I am a painter and find great solace and comfort for hours in my work. I run my own dog grooming business and it is so nice not to have to work for somebody else, I understand.

A Huge Sense of Gratitude: yes, Autumn brings with it a glowing sense of all of these elements: and the air all around is vibrant with resonant colour...
Thank you, Titus...Your calibre of work, and your work ethic encapsulate all of these facets.

Een child that can not fit in the system is a quality to cherish, most of the time they are creative and have problems with rules, your son could be a born artist, setting himself off against society, because this society does not want creative people (they think to much) have different views on the world. You can not ask a fish to climb a tree, but in the water it will flourish ❤️ and that is freedom✨

Hello Titus, Greetings from Tucson, AZ, USA. I am not a painter ... I actually enjoy building model cars ... but I just wanted to say how much I have been enjoying your videos and your reflections on life. I was trapped in the 'system' for most of my working life ... and I am very happy that I am retired now. Take care.

thank you for another great video. I agree with your comments regarding the "system" and your son struggling to be at school. It is hard to participate in a constructed society where you are expected to do what everyone else does, not question anything or think outside the square. If you are a creative, a thinker, or solitary type of person it is very difficult to fit in.

Beautiful thoughts Titus! I have thrown paintings away and had no idea who followed me later to remove them and showed me that I shouldn’t have really thrown them in the trash. It was a treat to hear your music. I had to choose between music and dance so I did both, ha! What used to be required for our children to know, specifically the arts are missing in most educational systems. But it used to be required to learn at least one instrument. It’s great that you keep the communication open with your children. They are a real blessing and deserve parents to be their very best of friends. Enjoy your weekend and thank you for sharing. I am almost done with this bird that is painfully slow and I am off to finish a couple more. You know what you mentioned about this system is true. We need direction since we are human, principles to guide our lives but if everyone treated everybody with love then we would be living life to the full. No matter how many laws are written they are unable to change what we are or can be in our hearts. Soon that will change. 😊

I am a huge fan of Van Gogh and I can only imagine the energy that must still be in those places where he went. I envy that you are able to go to such places.
Everytime your video pops up in my feed, I always ask myself: Is it Friday already?!! I then grab a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy your video. Thank you for making my Friday's so unique. I tried your style, way too hard for me and yet you seem to make it so easy! LOL I think I will stick with portraiture although doing them in watercolor is very new to me. I have only done one so far, but it was nice. Have a nice weekend and hopefully your son will feel better tonight. The system can be a crushing blow to artists.

I feel like our artists inside could be good friends. I am just starting out with watercolour and your work, wow you have certainly put in the time and have talent and skill. Your skills and works are high inspiration for me. I also can't really tell you here how deeply it effected me, your sensitivity over your son. I feel hopeful for the world when a parent can notice their child. I will just leave it at that. I am sure all parents here know what i mean. God bless your family, your children. All our children. Life is glorious and wonderful. But life can be perilous and tough going.

    Hello Titus,
Your contemplation, art and music in this video touched me deeply. All my life I have stood for freedom. Freedom of the spirit, not what when this is said gets the reaction about discipline. It’s the allowing for others and oneself to have true expression in becoming ourselves. I feel for your son as I too struggled and still do with not always fitting into the system as some others do with ease. Rules are fine as they need to be made for whatever are the reasons behind them, however, we can bring our own essence of beauty if it’s given time and space to become.
Thank you for touching on a very human subject in a beautiful way.

Толкова ми е любимо да те гледам, да те слушам, така добре да те разбирам, че и аз да се изненадвам... И ,,змийчето , беше там. Сякаш умът ти му казва : ,,Направи нещо тук!,, И то го прави. Artists usually do very poorly working for other people.... It's very rare that a company will have an artist's best interest in mind. They will use you for their purposes and when they are done with you, you will be disposed of.... No artist should sell their soul exclusively to an overlord without being able to work on their own creativity

You mentioned ugly houses. Ugly is so subjective that I wonder “ugly” to whom? Would you paint an “ugly” house as it was or would you use artist liberties? I think you have also said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So what is “ugly?”

    • @ninner196
      @ninner196 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes ugly is subjective but if they wanted a portrait of their house and could pay then I do believe that was the point, I am sure they would be obliged. I just had to add to that. Artists don’t always get to paint what others perceive as being beautiful, especially in portraiture (I apologize I was laughing). It’s common to look at a pile of weeds and have an instructor say “paint this!.” So I suppose that there are various degrees of ugliness but sometimes an “ugly house” has a beautiful tree by it splitting the light shining through it.😊
