  • It was amazing to see a full room with over 50 participants on a Friday afternoon for our highly impactful first webinar as part of the TRANSATLANTIC Project. The event focused on key actions to enhance transatlantic cooperation and explore sustainable strategies' social, economic, and political benefits. It was a resounding success, bringing together leading voices from the blue economy sector.
Our distinguished speakers included Geraint Green, Head of Agile Cymru; Gonçalo Faria, Lead Manager of Hub Azul Portugal; Amelie Desrochers, Executive Director of Novarium; Tiago Fernandes, Head Of Logistics of Porto de Lisboa ; Eva Mª Mena Medina, Director-General of Campus de Excelencia Internacional del Mar. CEI·MAR; and Philippe Thieffry, Coordinator Bretagne Ocean Power and Renewable Marine Energies. The session was expertly moderated by Ruben Eiras, Secretary General of Fórum Oceano.
Key outcomes from this webinar included the objective of building a robust network of stakeholders to foster collaboration at a transatlantic level, learning from each other to build transatlantic partnerships, and promoting a more collaborative blue economy. We also focused on strengthening cooperation to deepen and multiply the value we are all creating.
Launched in January 2024 by the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), the TRANSATLANTIC Project aims to boost cooperation with non-EU regions at a transatlantic level. The project focuses on developing the blue economy, green maritime infrastructure, and climate change adaptation through transatlantic workshops, capacity-building training, missions, and more. It nurtures dialogue and exchanges between Atlantic EU and non-EU stakeholders, particularly from hashtag#Wales and hashtag#Québec.
This first webinar, on June 21 2024, marks a significant step forward in our journey to advance the blue economy and strengthen the transatlantic cooperation between research institutions, ports, start-ups, SME clusters and regional authorities. Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future!
