Except people already know to ignore the arrows and that nobody is enforcing the speed limits so WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT

eh actually i wish TDOT was open about this part of the smart corridor, the way this was presented made it sound very orwellian.
connecting cars to the signs via bluetooth? does it connect to smartphones as well or just to a cars bluetooth signal? also why on earth are y'all just now figuring out that something as simple as getting the traffic lights smarter and more in sync would be better than keeping many traffic signals the same for decades? and why won't y'all widen the downtown loop? thats a damn good source of a lot of congestion in the metro area, why avoid widing that 50s design when it needs modernization badly! at the very least give the area some collector/distributor lanes so that there isn't as much weaving!
but i feel like y'all are doing this just to avoid the nashville loop, even tho it should be a top priority! do traffic studies, you'll find the nashville loop to be the cause and effect of a lot of traffic problems, because you have 10-12 laned interstates going down to 6, which isn't good when you want to keep congestion down! or y'all need to just do this instead if y'all ain't gonna fix up the downtown loop:
sell the entire downtown loop in nashville tennessee to a private company, and tell them its their problem now. they do the ROW, the construction, the maintence, and other factors, you get a portion of the profits.
so much in nashville to do to fix the traffic congestion, but it sounds like TDOT is unwilling to do em, just come up with orwellian solutions like this to keep traffic moving, even tho its gonna just overflow to other roads and add more traffic to the other roads due to the amount of people seeking alternatives.

They have no money for those things.

And this is about exits 81 to 54. Not the loop. The loop is a different problem entirely

@@jonathannowlen4818 are you completely dumb? they should be doing something with the downtown loop instead of adding choice lanes or making the interstates smarter. tbh to me its a majority of the problems with traffic. on the interstates.
you have a lot of people going from the metro cities to the downtown core, and they have 0 transit for the greater nashville area outside of buses. on top of it, you have traffic merging from 6 lanes one way to 3.

NO! We still have bad drivers, wrecks and slow traffic! Plus the bottleneck when you get into town. Did they ever heard of WAZE, that app tells you what is ahead, Good Grief Charlie Brown...
