The intro is Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev. It's from the Romeo and Juliet ballet, from memory when the Montegues and Capulets meet at the ball (hence the tension)

Knights of Cydonia can be hard to get into at first cause it's got a weird structure. The song is also so ridiculous it was meant to be a joke, the band were surprised when they saw how popular it got to the point it's now pretty much an anthem.

My wife hated this song at first, she would ask me to skip it everytime it came up, and then one time she was like "'wait let it play" and now it's her favorite 😂

Start of the concert, so long intro. Its Prokofiev's "Dance of the Knights" and then a cover of the famous communicating with the aliens scene in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (Steven Spielberg movie) before the song starts

As others have said, the Rome version. If you want eerie, that is an eerie intro to watch haha. Plus the performance is just top notch. Live recordings have come a long way in the last 10 - 15 years. I used to hate live recordings because they sounded so muddy. Not really the case as much these days

Really enjoying your reactions! I highly recommend actually watching the videos for the Wembley or Hullabaloo live reactions - they're all on TH-cam and there is so much energy to the performance itself, you can see how much they feel the music

I think the first guitar section is Matts tribute to his dad who was a guitarist for the Tornados who had a huge hit in 1962 called Telstar. Check it out off stream and you will make the connection.

This song is so complicated. Matt's dad was in a pretty well-known instrumental band called The Tornadoes in the 60s. They took a lot of influences from the 50s, 60s and 70s to create this song. It is far, far from one of my favs from them "radio hit". I do like their homage to Matt's dad though.

You have to watch the whole Live Wembley HAARP video visually. You cant get the real feel for it listening to audio. It's one of the best live concerts by a band. One of the best songs on the live video is Blackout but it has to be seen visually for you to enjoy it. Seriously. I've seen Muse live 7 times now from Showbiz days onwards, also at the Commodore in Vancouver on the Absolution Tour (500-800 max in the crowd). I know what I'm speaking about :)

The strings intro is not from the song - it's a piece of classical music whose name escapes me, which they just played as they were coming up through the stage.

Not to be that guy, but you seem to be a dude that really appreciates quality in production and engineering. That in mind, I will say, before 2006-ish, Muse's albums and live sound, production-wise, leaves much to be desired as far as balance and EQ are concerned. Although the fuzz and synth equipment experimentation nearly makes up for those recordings. A very, unique fresh sound they have.
That said the Knights of Cydonia off of the Rome concert film is far superior, and Matt has really grown into the track when it comes to live ad-libbing and improvisation. Also, MONSTER sound on their Live in Rome concert and their Simulation Theory film/concert thing.
EDIT: just heard your take at the end on studio vs. live. Yeah, dude, if I were you, I would steer clear of live Muse BEFORE 2009-10-ish. They IMMENSELY stepped their live sound game up from about that time onwards.
I would like to SPECIALLY mention that the Mayan 2016 concert film available free on TH-cam has EXQUISITE production and a fucking brutal setlist, and, given they are only a three piece (plus one touring musician) that GENERALLY write their songs with no more than 4 parts in mind, I think they do not lose that much value live compared to studio. Especially based on post-HAARP "pro-shot," edited and released stuff.
