Great video. Could you please make a short video on how you installed and connected the digital gauge? I couldn't find anything on Thunder's site that showed how to hook this up like you have it.
Here's a link to the process on Thunder Laser's site: support.thunderlaserusa.com/portal/en/kb/articles/quantifying-air-assist-pressures-26-2-2022#Introduction
Great video. Im struggling still with my 51/100 I have my power and speed close to yours with low as possible air pressure and it’s not clean and crisp. I also left the clear masking on should I take that off?
if you have clear masking are you engraving acrylic?? don’t use polycarbonate from big big stores or extruded acrylic for engraving . only use cast acrylic, remove the PAPER backing and very low air flow. thank for watching
@@computercreationz you answered me when I reached out to you. I as talking about getting the blue off the white carved area when there was too much air. Wishing you much continued success.
too much air flow is what generates allot of residue. make sure your using Minamal air flow when engraving. a quick sanding with 220 grit sand paper is the best. whipping it down with moistened rags or towns lifts the grain of the wood and makes it rough and then you have to sand anyway. skip the step of wiping and just sand.
I touch on it a little in this video. If there is no engraving to be done I use extruded. If there is any engraving to be done I always use cast acrylic. Huge difference in quality when engraved!
Just came across this video, Curious about the digital pressure gauge. Do you have an installation video for this gauge? I'm assuming that you cut a hole in the machine next to the air assist, then just hooked up power and ground (12VDC?), then an air line to the gauge?
On thunderlaserusa.com these is info on it. I see someone on Etsy has designed a housing for this guage to be installed on a thunder without any new holes.
Thunder laser is one of the only lasers that have a dual air assist. you control it in your layers in Lightburn. air assist on or off. off really means low volume air. this will automatically switch from low volume air (engraving) to high volume air when cutting. this is very convenient and effective!
Hello! Where did you get the cover for your SMC gauge, and is that a Thunder logo on the sides? I couldn't tell since it looks blue and red, instead of blue and gold.
Could you provide a video or instructions on how to install the digital gauge? I'm a newbie and just ordered a Nova 35/100 arriving early November. I am just trying to get a jump on things before it gets here.
if you goto the thunderlaserusa.com website and click on support and search for digital pressure gauge everything you need will come up. thanks for watching and your comments!
Robert, just found this video and wanted to thank you for the great information. I would also like to know were you buy your dual color materal from. Thanks again.
I'm sorry I'm a little confused. You mentioned air assistance was off but you are using air pressure. I'm 100% new at this so I'm guessing this is a silly question but I thought air assistance was air pressure? I was amazed by the differences you showed! So very helpful 👍
I can see why you would be. In lightburn you have a radio button that indicates air assist on or off in each layer . You turn that off in lightburn when engraving if you have a Thunder laser because it really means when you have the air assist off in lightburn is means low volume air flow to the thunder. You never want to go without any air flow or you will crack your focus lens. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Robert for another great lesson. I'm looking forward to working on my machine. Did you get the digital air pressure regulator from Thunder? thanks again Andy
it you goto www.thunderlaserusa.com then to thier knowledge base and search digital air pressure gauge it will give you all the links. thank for watching
Have you ever tried inert gas? We have a 4Kwatt Amada laser for cutting metal that uses nitrogen and I was thinking an inert gas would not promote the charring. I was going to try it out to see what it does on MDF and birch ply.
this is great thank you... I seem to be getting alot of contaminates on my nozzle since I turned my air down cause I was getting to much blow out.. in your experience do you have any remedies for this? I have been youtubing and googling for the last 3 hours with no luck haha
What is your focus? I'm assuming 2" head. I for the life of me cannot get this to work. I'm running the 35/80 with stock air and no air pressure meter yet.
Thank you very much for videos. So helping us. My laser 40w and I would like to ask you Can I use same parameters like you on my laser or depand on laser W and can be different ?
thank you for watching and your comments. sadly my setting will be vastly different than your laser. I’ve had same laser wattage and brand be different. my suggestion is to pick a speed and don’t change it. play with your power up or down until you get your desired results. good luck and happy lasering
by adding a line just inside the cut you can make an illusion of a chamfer but because the laser beam is fixed at 90 degrees the 45 degree chamfer is not possible
@@computercreationz Got it! I've been looking at some on eBay. Found a seller which is selling them new at around $30. I have an AEON Mira 9 and I'm looking to seriously upgrade the air assist system.
I am trying to engrave on the 2-layer plastic and cannot get the settings right. I have to turn the power up so high it is melting the material or I have to make multiple passes. Is there an easier way?
@@computercreationz I have a 60W c24. i tired the default settings from the library and turned off the air flow. It is barely making a dent in my material. The speed is at 500 and the engrave power is at 19 and the cut pwr is 39. any suggestions? The material is the lamacoid 2 layer plastic from gravoply, which is supposed to work. by the time I cut through, i am melting the material, which looks like crap.
We already have a round gauge installed but husband would like to replace with the digital manometer. Can he remove the one gauge and just replace it with the digital? If so where would he purchase it?
Revisiting your video here because I’m going to test rowmark soon. This is an awesome video showing the difference air pressure can make. Thank you Robert! Were you in focus on all of these tests?

All right, this was likely quite expensive. Here's my answer to the question - get an inexpensive 15 PSI pressure gauge and cobble up something like this below; one possible - and very relative - improvement would be to get a more precise, multi-turn valve for airflow adjustment, but in my experience it is not absolutely necessary: th-cam.com/video/OWRdnh18bqw/w-d-xo.html Thx!

I can’t seem to find it either. my apologies
On the rowmark fo you use 4 inch lens? When usjng my 2.5 with no air, i get flames. Should i use a 4 inch lens?
the flames are from lack of air flow, when using acrylic add just enough air flow to extinguish the flame especially on and type of acrylic
