We’re back on the BNSF for another day of filming. Last time, we were on the BNSF in Downers Grove last Sunday and we moved west to Naperville, IL. It was another chilly morning to start the day. While it may have been cold, the clouds rolled in but quickly became clear skies with the sun shining beautifully by the mid-morning. However, the cold didn’t really go away as a slight wind was making the temperature feel much colder than needed. The rail traffic was quite consistent throughout the day even after the Metra trains cleared through. The tracks became quiet by 10am but at least it gave us time to sit down and take a break for a bit. After lunch, the action gradually picked up as a variety of freight trains roared through town. As we were about to pack up, more and more trains came through. The only trains that were missing was the Amtrak California Zephyr and Southwest Chief trains. Because of the pandemic, the Amtrak long distance trains run three times a week instead of the usual everyday schedule. Overall, it was a solid day in Naperville and we had a good time despite the cold weather all day. Coming up next is Glen Ellyn on the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision. Excellent Amtrak, Metra, & BNSF catches is it just me or is it weird not seeing the Amtrak long distance trains running daily anymore but hey sweet catches of F40PHM-3 211 CB&Q Heritage Unit
