Thank you for the podcast, that was great! I agree with you on the cringe moments. But there are also lovely moments on that movie, I find Mariah/Billie's vulnerability very touching. Did you ever ever watch the DVD with the director's commentary? It actually gave me another perspective on the movie and a better respect. Even though, like every lambs, I wish it had been a more adult/darker movie, like intended by Mariah.
I love Mariah, but Glitter IS cringe 😬...but we know why, because it was rewritten and watered down. But one thing I noticed in the movie is that it was supposed to be set in the early 80s, but there's no real feel if the early 80s...no jheri curl, no weird 80s makeup, no fashion from that time...it looks like 2001. No character development, no struggle towards Billie's stardom. Terrible casting for Dice (who was originally supposed to be Terrence Howard).
I just looked up the original screenplay for Glitter in that Mariah Carey forum and OMG...I haven't read it yet, but I can't wait to dig in!
We can be part of the Somewhat Loved music video now!

I never actually watched it with the commentary! I really must soon! Thanks for the feedback
I can’t remember if I have. If I did, it would have been years ago so need to do it again!
