DC Kits - Legomanbiffo Class 30 DCC Sound File Showcase

Introducing the new Legomanbiffo Class 30 sound project, perfect for the upcoming Accurascale Class 30 models in 00 gauge!!. A lot of people fail to see the differences between the Class 30 and 31, although the locomotives share the same bodyshell the engine itself is actually entirely different and unlike the 31s which have been fitted with English Electric engines the Class 30s were fitted with a Mirrlees engine consisting of 1,250 brake horse power. Due to the Mirrlees engines being unreliable the entire fleet of class 30s were converted to class 31s with a replacement English Electric engine consisting of 1,470 brake horse power. Legomanbiffo's sound file resurrects the voice of the class 30s using a heavily modified sound project recorded at high quality from a real Class 37/9 Mirrlees MB275T engine.

Did the 30/31s not use their generator to start up? I know the 37/9 needed a separate motor due to having an alternator.

Pretty sure you are correct generator used to start not starter motor. Same as the 31s

30s also had V12 engines rather than a straight 6 as fitted to 37/9s

@@FM60260 Correct. Speaking to Fran from Accurascale, they have managed to find a genuine recording of the real thing. So I'll be getting their chip when it's released.
