Remarkable flowers on the Bacon Paul. I'd be tempted to try hand pollinating a few of the pawpaw flowers between the 2 trees, I'm not sure I'd rely on flies alone.
@@UrbanBounty I use a small brush to remove the pollen from the older dark red flowers ( the pollen will fall out of the flower easily ), no doubt a cotton bud will also work, and transfer it to the pale coloured flowers ( light green to very pale pink ) that are just starting to open at the end as they should still be in the female stage. The plants as you know generally aren't self fertile so the pollen needs to be moved from tree to tree. I hope a couple of flowers set fruit 🤞
Everything is looking fantastic. Good size pawpaw trees now. Lychee will be great if you can get a few fruit. Avo’s and blueberries are nuts, so many flowers and berries!

I am going to try and net part of pour two in ground trees as I thought they had never fruited however I have found that its possum crack and they harvest the fruit at about 1-2cm. Mango land avocados look great too.

Looking good Paul, somehow I missed this one. That plant I sent you is a Num Num Carissa bispinosa It is a slightly smaller fruit than natal plum which is Carissa macrocarpa
@@dougs_urbanfarm thanks for the info mate, I mistakenly thought that they were the same and I bought a natal plum as a pollinator. Have you had fruit from a single plant before?
@UrbanBounty I think they are self fertile, but natal plum would probably cross pollinate. I gave all mine away and had to get another one so it hadn't fruited yet but a mate has only one and it fruits
@UrbanBounty just been up there for 2 days clearing some lantana and having a good look around. Planted a few trees near where there is some old fruit and nut trees to see if they will survive without irrigation and pruned some.big old custard apple and white sapote trees that must be 25 years old
