    Venice has advertised its flooded streets for hundreds of years. They have never bothered to raise their buildings from the water. Their hundreds of years of shortsightedness is their fault and their problem.

    I was just there on holiday in October and I walked , ate and loved every moment of my days there... Just seeing all the amazing buildings and Italian history and water at that time that was only in the lagoon.. 🖤
    . My heart hurts knowing that this is what it looks like now.. The same streets that I walked on only a few weeks ago... 💔

    Isn't the historical centre historically known to flood. 50yrs ago was it climate change? How about the 50yr flood before that. I'm sure someone would have told them at the start u dont want to build a city there.

    • @johntierney5545

    • @miketaylor3559
      @miketaylor3559 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How is it worse than before if its the highest in 50yrs. Its complete misrepresentation of facts to fit a different narrative. The massive works to stabilise the lagoon inlets over past 20yrs were not envisaged due to climate change. It was because the city keeps flooding and really bad sometimes.

    Where the sewerage and dirty water from toilet goes ? In Japan I dont smell any bad odors from their stream and rivers but when I was in Venice during the summers the stinking chanel was so bad as if it was sewerage water flowed in the channel. I didnt hire small boat to wander around the chanels coz its smelly .

    It's strange how we humans think we can conquer nature...as beautiful as the idea may be...to build a city around water is a recipe for the inevitable...
