Hi y'all! Today I'm reflecting on what I miss and don't miss about public accounting to share if the grass is really greener when you move from public accounting to industry. Overall, my experience has been great this time in industry. I did go into industry after leaving the Big 4 as a senior but that didn't work out for me, see this video for more info:
Why I Went Back Into & Stayed in Public Accounting (Big 4 ▶︎ Industry ▶︎ Mid-Tier)
    • CAR CHAT | Why I Went ...
It really will depend on your personal preference, your environment, the people you're around, etc. I don't think the grass is greener on either said per say. I think depending on each season of life, one may be greener than the other 🥴

Hi friend 😇 i feel like this video was much needed you always know exactly what to post, i tell you this all the time but I rewatch like all of your vlogs😂 I feel like it’s because it reminds me of the ‘old days’ before COVID and also because it’s where I want to see myself after graduating undergrad. Two more semesters left! I just can’t wait to be on the other side.

Great video Stephie! This will really help people deciding between public and industry!
I have a few questions; is there a busy season in industry or are your hours, for the most part, pretty consistent throughout the year?
Also, what audit industry would you recommend going into to get the best experience to transfer to industry? I’m currently in the Financial Services Group but I’m not sure if that is too limiting because it’s such a niche industry.
Really love your insight into the accounting world!! It gives me a lot of motivation on where my career can go!

Ah I believe it depends on your job role in industry. For example, if you are a corporate accountant then you may have to work late or overtime at month-end to finish monthly reporting. Year-end responsibilities can also increase the amount of time you work…but the busy time shouldn’t last for more than a week or so. I have a channel about Internal Audit.

    Hi Stephie,
I just started looking through your videos again. To get some pointers on applying for jobs. I just handed in my two week notice for my first job out of college. Not accounting but workday xD.

I always find your videos helpful and packed with information. A question I have, not sure if you've covered it, is who do you report to and then who does that person report to? I'm interesting in structure of different industries. Thanks!

Hey Stephie, quick question. I was talking to a PA colleague recently who started in internal audit and then switched to public. He said he left IA because it felt like coworkers within the company viewed the IAs as "the enemy" and it was uncomfortable. Have you ever felt that in IA? Thanks! :)

    • @WithStephie

Do you recommend quitting with no job and trying to change industries?

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I personally wouldn't recommend it because I'm a risk-averse person and would want to use my savings for emergencies. But I think if a person is comfortable with that decision, have enough in savings and have prepared themselves enough to give it a go, I'd say go for it.
I just personally wouldn't take the approach but that's not to say it's wrong for someone else.

Pros of big 4. When you leave, your life is so messed up that most jobs seem heaven.
