Well the comic was more in depth and based on a video game premise, so comparing it to Hollywood movies seems kinda like underselling the original intellectual property by the Japanese author
Honestly I just think there's no market for mech warrior type sci-fi as Pacific Rim pulled the same box office and Pacific Rim 2 did even worse. Other robot shows like Terminator pulled about the same and only transformers movies still do well even though they're pretty mediocre. Even the Halo TV show was cancelled. Just the genre isn't big with audiences.
Agreed! Originality is an important factor for the success of this kind of movie. That's why Matrix's follow-ups were big and predictable disappointments. Money money money.
I disagree I want to see what he does with his extra groundhog days. Hows he going to fix things this time. Tune in next week for part 2 of this movie.
But it is clear, fast, chaep, makes less mistakes. Compare last 5 videos and the rest. Some ppl can't even hear the difference btw real voice and AI...they hear AI everywhere.
I saw this one for the first time when I decided to watch every movie starring Tom Cruise, and it was one of my favorites of the marathon. So much so I went out and bought the 4K Blu Ray
Actually... love it too. Sometimes the exos looked weird, but in the movie, it was a quick, last-minute solution. People didn’t have much time to test them, so all the glitches fit perfectly. At least it looked kind of real-not like the CGI nonsense in Pacific Rim 2.
Oblivion and Egde of Tomorrow will always be on Tom Cruise golden list of movies of which he was the main character. The fact that their initial success was not as expected just points out that people were not prepared for them. At that time. Many generations will enjoy them both.
This film is only considered a failure if ine takes the metrics of immediate box office revenue into consideration. Albeit being important since the (immediate) bottom line needs to be met by Hollywood and by extension the vulture capitalist in the US, this movie did well years onwards after its release on streaming and DVD. I saw a comment about the marketing. This is something I truly agree with. It seems like Hollywood does not know how to do segmentation i.e which audience to target a film like this. Moreover, they have abandoned the promotional aspects for movies like these. They onlybknownhownto get affiliation with companies like the fast food chains for Disney and super hero movies. Needless to say,,everyone I know who saw this movie find it fulfilling.
Both „Oblivion” and „Edge of tomorrow” were great, original and imaginative SF movies. Too bad that neither of them made the money it deserved, but at least I return to them with some frequency.
Never saw this or even cared upon release but bought the blue ray years later in 3 for 25$ bin maybe 2 years after release. Great film.i LOVED Oblivion and saw it twice in cinema back when that was cheap even though critics crapped on it. All i KNOW the sequal rubbish needs to stop. doesnt need a sequel. Were tired of Mi films. we love them but enough now, do something else.
Feel this channel is just the creator taking bits and pieces of movie trivia from different websites, putting it into Chat Gpt and hitting 'Summarize', then taking a generic AI voice to read what was summarized. Spread bits and pieces of the movie throughout and you've got yourself an up and running channel. Nonetheless, entertaining.
This is an amazing movie. I saw at the cinema with my late father and we both loved it. Ive also rewatched in several times on streaming. Ir definitily wasn't a failure in the sense of being a bad movie. As with Dredd (2012), and amazing movie was let down marketing and other factors not the fauit of the filmmakers. The title choice is baffling. Edge of Tomorrow is really generic and forgettable and sounds like a Bond movie. Live. Die. Repeat. is an objectively better title and when i keot forgetting the actual title i kept having to search this title instead.
The movie is very entertaining and highly rewatchable, it was just extremely poorly marketed. Oh yes, and the ending is of course nonsense; I would be very surprised if the happy ending was in the original script, because it goes against all the rules that were established beforehand.
world gone weird. Why any movie if you like has to have a sequels? This movie doesn't have incomplete ending. Why waste money and time for sequel. Give it a chance for a something new. I like this movie but I will not care for the sequel
Too many repeats after exact same repeat of time, the story halt instead of the story moving to what will happen next. Very boring during repeat time. Instead of watching too many repeat of exactly same scene, they could have focus on many different battle scenes. You could finish the movie within 30 minutes without repeats.
This was bad film " no let me correct it " this is the type of film Disney will green light that how bad it is and the annoying fat guy " serious " and bill paxton being an asshole and is was just a bad bad bad film 💯
I really liked this movie. It was starship trooper meets Groundhog Day
Me too, watched it 3 times.
Pretty much.
Good one! 😅
You should read the book. Its just as good.
Well the comic was more in depth and based on a video game premise, so comparing it to Hollywood movies seems kinda like underselling the original intellectual property by the Japanese author
The failure is completely set on the studio not being able to market a truly epic film
Absolutely loved this movie.
But it doesn't need a sequel.
Agreed!
Originality is an important factor for the success of this kind of movie.
That's why Matrix's follow-ups were big and predictable disappointments. Money money money.
Yeah I don't think a sequel would do well. Some movies are better as one off.
I disagree I want to see what he does with his extra groundhog days. Hows he going to fix things this time. Tune in next week for part 2 of this movie.
Shocked this was a failure, it’s a great underrated masterpiece, sci-fi with groundhog day it’s just wow
I love this film.
The movie was bad ass. Loved it. Real exo skeletons rocked.
*Edge of tomorrow was a 10/10 movie!* I saw it 4x in theaters, and another couple of dozen times on blu-ray.
This movie was great. I remember watching it by complete accident and being blown away with how entertaining it was.....
The AI voiceover is soulless.
But it is clear, fast, chaep, makes less mistakes. Compare last 5 videos and the rest. Some ppl can't even hear the difference btw real voice and AI...they hear AI everywhere.
this movie is badass.
"have you been drinking?!"
"get it..."
This was a great movie, but was self-contained and does not need a sequel. I would prefer a sequel to Elita and especially to Dredd (2012).
I loved this movie
I dont care what they say i really enjoyed this movie and bought a copy so did my part😂
This movie was a great movie
This movie was badass and I’m surprised it didn’t get a sequel.
Doug Liman doesn’t have a great track record but I would argue this is his best film by a mile.
Didn’t he also direct the first Jack Reachee movie with Tom Crusie which was also equally grossly underrated?
@@joehenry9546 chris McQuarrie directed Jack reacher
I love both films and don't like the show.
He's not made any hits. His biggest box office is still Mr and Mrs Smith then this movie but that's it. He's a good director though.
@@jonfreeman9682 Bourne is a huge hit. No franchise without what Liman did even if they didn’t want him back for the sequels.
I saw this one for the first time when I decided to watch every movie starring Tom Cruise, and it was one of my favorites of the marathon. So much so I went out and bought the 4K Blu Ray
The exoskeletons look great and real, anything cgi nowadays looks like shit
Actually... love it too. Sometimes the exos looked weird, but in the movie, it was a quick, last-minute solution. People didn’t have much time to test them, so all the glitches fit perfectly. At least it looked kind of real-not like the CGI nonsense in Pacific Rim 2.
I can't see how CGI would have worked properly with the exoskeletons. Two many units, working together in fast action.
Looked like they actually wore them lol not cgi most of the time ?
It was brilliant and even better than Halo mech suits in the TV show.
Very underrated film.
Really smart, innovative, and just overall entertaining film.
Poorly marketed.
literally have watched it twice in last three weeks
The more AI narrators try to sound human, the more they sound like AI
Nah, this one is pretty good.
@@KinoReel-c4f pretty good at being annoying
Just find something else, I am not forcing you to watch my videos.
Great and entertaining film, bought it on 4K and return to it from time to time
The exoskeletons looked great. I had zero criticism of the effects in this movie.
Oblivion and Egde of Tomorrow will always be on Tom Cruise golden list of movies of which he was the main character. The fact that their initial success was not as expected just points out that people were not prepared for them. At that time.
Many generations will enjoy them both.
The 1st 45min of this movie is 10/10
What happens at the 46th minute?
I loved edge of tomorrow, I’m a huge fan of these ground hog day type films with a time loop. It was a fun film, great video! Keep up the great work!
This movie was much better than Battle LA and also Oblivion.
The exoskeleton suites were a best desicion and look good, Oblivion is a great movie as well
I really enjoyed the movie. One of my favorites.
They should've titled it Live Die Repeat.

I love thiis film. The end credits song was funny. 😅
Both „Oblivion” and „Edge of tomorrow” were great, original and imaginative SF movies. Too bad that neither of them made the money it deserved, but at least I return to them with some frequency.
The story has been told. No need for a sequel at all.
This is an excellent film. Oblivion too is very underrated
It’s a brilliant movie, loved it ❤
The title was part of the problem, that and the PR. It was better than I expected
Loved this one
Well personally i loved it
"the alien creatures should look like nothing seen before..." good thing Liman never played Crysis cause he would have been pissed at the designers.😅

Don’t remember when this came out offhand. Definitely never saw it.
Try it, good action movie.
This 😉 movie was not bad 😅😊
This movie was awesome! I saw it in the theater and everything. Surprised it didn't perform better
Great movie
Tom' character reminds me of Nick Morton from the 2017 Mummy
It’s a great movie!
i actually really liked this movie. a nice take on this type of film.
Wait it failed? It was awsome
A lot of good movies failed in box office. But not in our hearts:)
Perhaps audiences are just stupid. This movie is absolutely amazing.
Oblivion was great so was this.
Great flick

No! I personally flew all over the U.S. and spoke with Tom Cruise, Stallone, and Arnie, so you guys can give me 100 likes on each video :)
Can you do a video about "Collateral"?
The suits were fine, the aliens were weak.
Actually, they conquered the entire planet...
@KinoReel-c4f Sorry, I didn't mean their power level. I meant I found their motivations lacking. They were the weakest part of the movie.
they are almost a joke. cgi sponge bob characters.
IS the voiceover AI or what? It just flow like a human.
It is AI voiceover (but not AI video and not AI script). AI voiceover faster, better quality, cheaper.
This is an amazing movie. I saw at the cinema with my late father and we both loved it. Ive also rewatched in several times on streaming.

It was great when it was in the loop.. When it went into the third act, it became your typical alien blaster flick..dull..
World war Z came out in 2013, EoT came out in 2014….
Did you hear when EoT productuon begin? I have it in my video.
well, I have to disagree with everything authors says.
EXOs look epic, Tom is great with gun running...
as a fake a i this failed me at the worst
This is a real AI, not fake.
The movie is very entertaining and highly rewatchable, it was just extremely poorly marketed. Oh yes, and the ending is of course nonsense; I would be very surprised if the happy ending was in the original script, because it goes against all the rules that were established beforehand.
Great film, but it was a little over done 😊
I thought this was a great film!
It is!

Is this the movie where he keeps reliving the same day?
Yes.
@ solid movie kinda misunderstood
they had to have taken inspiration from Gears of War just a bit
Sci-fi version of Groundhog day to bad it wasn't bigger hit Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt we're great
What are you talking about bro? I don't know a single person who doesn't like this movie
You have to watch my video before you ask me questions like that.
Dude is that an AI voice? What happened to live narrators??!
Too expensive, making too many errors, long wait time and yet viewers call them AI :)
This and Jumper are like, the best sci-fi films of the last twenty years.
OK, like the content but the Ai voice, sorry no sub.
Is that voice AI?
Yes.
Failure?... hmmm.. i think not..
Did you watch my video?

They just had to send Rambo instead. He alone can kill all aliens. Tom Cruise had to learn it hard way - reliving same day hundred times.
great film poorly marketed, bit like Dredd
I could only watch about a third of this. I refuse to listen to this horrible AI voice.
I really liked this movie but yeah the last part of the film was the weakest.
Did this movie really fail?!
Not really a total failure, but with $100 mil. marketing budget...it wasn't profitable. Maybe after 10 years studio even covered all expenses.
AI voiceover sucks
Nah, it is pretty good. I bet it is better than you:)
I wanted a sequel to World War Z.
Boring movie...
How come? Non-stop action, some humor.
This was a great movie.
This was bad film " no let me correct it " this is the type of film Disney will green light that how bad it is and the annoying fat guy " serious " and bill paxton being an asshole and is was just a bad bad bad film 💯
