Im new to this type of game. I picked the dual gun class (outlander i think?), so do i have to use guns to be effective or can i use a two-handed axe or bow i picked up??
Just picked that game. Berserker on Veteran, i'm having fun. But is it just me or mana economy is horrendous? I'm trying to pick every mana regen gear I can, I even just got the Battlebreaker socketed with the Regent's eye...And still I keep getting out of mana if I don't constantly chug mana potions. Putting some points into focus brings pitiable results... I'm honestly stumped. Should I make peace with the fact i'm going to mainly use my basic attack all game and not my skills or is there something i'm missing?
At the start of the game mana can be an issue and you will be using pots to fill in the gaps, however, make sure you're not dumping all your points into one skill too early as that skill may use more mana that you can manage. For example, 5 points may do less damage than 10 or 15, but if the mana is manageable you can go for longer - make sense? Later in the game you will find mana gems that you can socket to give mana back per hit and these are amazing. You will need to manage your mana, but it should never be a burden all the time.
@@BaamGames Ok I see. I've been trying to allocate point in several skills, notably passives (a few one point wonder and "cold steel" to the max because it's amazing). I'm at the middle of act 2 and with a few mana gems it's still arduous. Guess i'll continue on this way for a moment and respect if need be.
Very good points to new players! I usually say that there's no need for installing mods. Mod contents are just not so good as vanilla, and you can spend hundreds of hours without them
Was using skill reset to test abilities around level 10 and didn't notice the switch from it costing 0 to costing 350. Spent all my gold before it said I didn't have enough money to reset a skill. Like 15k down the drain fml.

Dear BAAM, why am I watching this video when I already know all those tips ? Oh I know, because it's you. I mean, because I respect you knowledge ;) (BTW I watched you LP of TL2, but I find it rushed, too bad because your veteran knowledge could have made a great "narrative" LP, sort of) One little correction though, the solo world actually does respawn. In fact, from what I read and it seems after some tests that's true, each type of areas (plains, desert, tombs, temples...) respawn after 3 of the same type visited, hence why the first area respawn after having visited 3 other plains of the 1st act. But even if this is the case, it's faster to just reroll in LAN mode for boss farm obviously so I agree !
I genuinely did not know that about the respawns, and it is great knowledge - thanks! So, you're saying that if I slowed the pace down a bit and treated the game like an RPG rather than an ARPG - people would be into that?
@@BaamGames I cannot speak for people out here. I can only speak for myself. But I think it's like a cup of tea right ? You take your time to drink it because you like the taste, if you drink it too hot you will burn your tongue. I feel kind of the same way for LP video. I appreciate your talent at playing even with fast gameplay, but I think even if the story isn't that great, it can benefit from a slower gameplay. Hence the "narrative" between quotation marks. As you said slow down just a bit. Cause it's not Skyrim or another RPG sandbox game, it's still a H&S where you slain tons and tons of mobs without watching their names ;) You played Normal mode not to annoy viewers, I remember that. This does allow you to progress with 5 to 10 levels below the adviced level intervals of dungeons without too much of a hassle. I don't know how to answer properly. I watched tons of LPs and rarely have I liked them because people do things that are completely illogical to me. When *you* play, I can see that you know how to play H&S games and so maybe in my mind I would like to take more time to appreciate that. Something like that. I can only imagine and hope that other people feel the same. I still have to watch your Grimdawn LP though. Hope this helps a little.
Just getting back into it and man they don’t make games like this anymore. Fun stuff. Torchlight 3 was kinda a let down infinite is not bad but the micro transactions kill it for me.
I really dont like that only the most recent 3 skill points are removable personally. I really enjoy the game but Torchlight 2's mage class just isnt as fun as TL1's for me and because I dont want many of the lower level abilities I end up just not really specing into anything for a long while making mage runs really bland for me ;-;.

@@matthewkemper9050 yea its cool. I tested it.
I remember being disappointed in D3 and a friend of mine showed me Torchlight 2, we had a blast on TL2.
I’m doing a Veteran playthrough on my channel. This was my favorite game back in the day. Still is one of my favorites. I’ve played it so many times.
The same here. Veteran mode is great thing.
Never knew about the LAN mode trick, thanks.
You're welcome mate. Makes leveling far easier as you can level up before continuing on.
This really is a great game. My tip would be play it on a switch or emulate the switch version on a steam deck. Works great with a controller.
Or better yet, play it on Xbox Series X or PS5 where it runs much better.

I'm having more trouble deciding what class and build to use.
Try them all. Take each to middle of act 1, so general grell, and you will get a feel for then.
dang thanks for the tips. Me and one of my friends got this on special so we've been grinding the game quite a bit

If you're asking if it adds to the sword and board skill damage modifier, definitely not. This is only for the actual shield you have equipped.
