    Living in Udon Thani Thailand.
    Friends of ours are looking to come and stay in Udon Thani and have asked if we could check out some hotels for them.
    We thought it would be a good idea to show you all our reviews of the ones that we visited.
    This first one, The Pannarai, is where Pook and I would stay more often than not when we were here visiting family, before we made the permanent move to Thailand.

    Hello Kevin and Pook. Been researching Thailand as a retirement option. Began following you a few months back. My big challenge is where should I live?? Any suggestions on how to narrow down the options? Love your videos.
    Best from US.
    Bruce.

    • @TheIsaanFarang
      @TheIsaanFarang  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Bruce, The first consideration to make is are you a townie or a country boy. So many options of both or a combination of the two.
      Renting a place is so inexpensive here, I would suggest spending a year trying out different places. Once you find a place that you like, take some short term rents in that area to fine tune your choice of a home.
      There are agencies here who will help you out with which type of visa that you should go for. Initially you'll get a tourist visa from the Thai embassy in your home country.
      Let me know how you get on.
      Pleased that you are enjoying the videos 🙂

      Thank you Kevin. Lived a city/suburban life, but that was due to my job. Once retired, I would certainly welcome a combination of city and country living. Been looking at coastal areas versus interior regions. Udon Thani interests me a great deal. But, will probably start around Bangkok and work my way north. Will keep you updated. Just hope there is clarity on tourist visas soon. Cheers!

    Great place to stay if you're a night owl, however, if you have a family don't expect to get any sleep until the early hours when all the bars finish their discos. The hotel is one of the better ones in Udon Thani, but too close to the bars to get a decent nights sleep.

    • @TheIsaanFarang
      @TheIsaanFarang  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our friends and Pook and I found that if you have a room on the pool side of the building, you can't hear the bars. Even on the opposite side, we slept really well Gareth.

    Must try that place next time we ply up. Flown up Udon abot 5 times in last 20 years. Usually stay big hotel to the west side of center or at the big mall. Think called Centara but not called that last we there. Been 4 years since we fly up. Big choice with Chiang Rai and Mai airports, Did Rai last year.

    Another great video and really good review. I went straight onto Agoda to confirm the price of the Jnr Suite @B5k, any day of the week Agoda has it at just south of B4k, so maybe the price quoted was the rack rate. Saved already to my favorites.

    Stayed there quite a few times over the years. Its a very good hotel. I wonder what demand is like given their prices, not that cheap IMO, To put it in perspective I've booked Fraser Suites Suk 11 in BKK, a good 4-5 star place and its only £35, 1400 baht per night for an Executive Studio room

    Hi Kev, you mentioned that you felt the Pannarai was much better than the Centara. Last time I stayed at the Centara I got quite a good deal for a standard room and significantly cheaper than that quoted for a standard room at the Pannarai. Maybe prices have changed since then, but I definitely could not flaw the Centara in any way.

    Hi, Thanks for that review. Yisa and I have always stayed at the Centara Hotel but are very much looking for a change next time we come. In relation to the prices, 999Baht for a standard and 5000Baht for the junior suite, I can't see how they can justify 5 times the cost just for the small suite even with breakfast included. Would be very much interested in the "Eight" hotel if your considering reviewing that one as its another on our short list. Lastly, did the hotel have a bar area to catch a drink or was it simply the breakfast room ?. Many Thanks, Nick & Yisa.

    Internet problems in hotels are usually because there are too many people trying to use the same connection, not because of the signal strength from the router. I usually stay at Top Mansion because I'm a cheapskate, and should the situation present itself, the dreaded 'walk of shame' through reception can be averted through judicious use of the stairwells.

      If you are planning a journey you might use a map to plan your Route...again, pronounced Root.
      Where I come from, a Router (pronounced rr out er) is a carpentry power tool. Okay for cutting grooves in a piece of wood, but absolutely useless for viewing The Isaan Farang TH-cam channel 😉

    I wonder how long it will take, if ever things to become normal again.
    That hotel is the right type as in not a massive commercial one and not too small to not have the facilities.
    1,580 baht seems high for Udonthani.
    1,000 baht seems more realistic.
