Yeah, good to see others picking up on this. I do not feel Honda/Acura DW/Z fluid is the best fluid to be suggested/required for these transmissions and possible culprit for so many early deaths.
Do we need to flush the entire transmission fluid before changing to this? If we dont flush, it will mix with Honda OEM fluid leftover. Could it be bad?
i don't know what fluid i have in my 2005 honda right now but the fluid is running low. can i grab vavoline maxlife and top it off, also can i use it for power steering as well ? thanks
I have a 2014 Kia Sportage with a CVT transmission. I used Valvoline Maxlife. KIa calls for SP-IV and its on the bottle. Time to change it again. Been 30,000 miles and no problems. Next its going in a 2003 CRV.
Great ATF for older Honda vehicles. You can buy it on Amazon at amzn.to/3bVdfk5.
It feels butterly smooth.Thx for the advice
Yup, awesome atf!

Totally agree man. Valvoline Maxlife is the best ATF fluid.
Correction: Honda Z1 ATF was replaced by DW1 ATF, it is recommended but not required to be use to any Honda with AT but not with CVTs.
Thanks for the correction!

Nope, a flush is not needed. You can mix MaxLife ATF with Honda ATF.

Yup, you can top off with MaxLife. I don't know if you can use it as power steering fluid.
ONLY USE OEM HONDA POWER STEERING FLUID.
Not for PS in Honda, but works like a dream for PS in Ford and GM. I use for PS in a Ford Ranger truck.
If i already have atf dw1 can i just drain and fill with this oil?
Yes you can!

Nice! I love that Valvoline keeps expanding the applications for this fluid. It's such good ATF. Thanks for the comment.
Can I use this Mac life atf on 2016 mdx ? Because dealer said I need to put atf 3.1 though 😢😢😢
Yes, you can. Valvoline Maxlife ATF is compatible with Honda 3.1 ATF.
So any body have use this max life on Acura mdx 2016?
It's compatible. Use with confidence.
How’d the castrol atf hold up?
Great, but I prefer the Valvoline ATF because it's easy to find locally and cheaper.
