    Delicious and simple. Bread and cheese soups can also be found in northern European cuisine, such as Ann Cook's 1755 cookbook Professed Cookery - Townsends showed that recipe.

      Keep in mind , people that had to make bread and cheese soup were probably starving!
      Note: although the Suffron makes me question that,its probably just this recipe from a dish that originated from bad times

      Bread soups were very common up until 1900. It's strange but I see it everywhere especially in 18th and early 19th century dishes. Bread was also boiled with beef broth, strained then drunk as "beef tea"
