love this! literally encapsulates everything I've been thinking about Carl's podcast. such a perfect picture of the gospel especially Romans 8!! also resonate with the anxiety you felt when you heard Carl and Ravi's moral breakdowns! had a similar situation with some christian artists I followed

Yo I love this take. You're not over here being dramatic, or click baiting, you're going straight to the scripture on how to respond to this. Truly the best podcast of our generations.

I have been so blessed by this podcast. You present the gospel in a way that is easily understood and chewable. God bless you 🙏🏾

I really appreciate how you aren’t trying to wash over your humanity when you mentioned your strong reaction to these “scandals” was because you were thinking about the fact that it could happen to you. Then came back to reinforce that all men will fall short and that we have to continually rely on GOD regardless of our “status.”

This is the gospel, give people grace to fall and then come back! Because God does!!

Really good recap Pastor Ebenezer. You'd think as Christians we'd have a better grip on restoration of one another as believers because of what Jesus does for us on a daily basis.
I submit that David was correct in his analysis that he'd sinned against God alone because David was the King of the land. Any action or decree that he put forth was lawful for the land under him as the king but he realized as a Christian... he sinned against The Holy & Righteous God!
    Thank you Lord for RESTORATION!

Eh…I think there are a ton of people who are very gracious to these pastors. Look at Robert Morris who was just exposed for pedophelia against a girl who was 12 at the youngest age of molestation. He described her a “young lady” for years. Even with her finally speaking out and exposing that is was actually pedophelia, there are still many people defending him. When Ravi was exposed many people were vicious against his victims. I’m concerned with how protective so much of the church of these ministers. The people who speak out are vilified or dismissed. It’s heartbreaking. I know multiple people who were victimized by church leaders but will not speak out because who will believe them and stand by them against the man of God? Sure there are those who love to hate on pastors especially people like Carl Lentz but the overwhelming majority are silent or are protective of them.

I do believe calling sin out is also gracious. Protecting, or ignoring is terrible. Sweeping something under the rug is not the heart of God.
My point in the video is to say we call out to restore. Protecting/ignoring is dangerous because there is no pathway to repentance and restoration.

Ebenezer what you are forgetting here is that these are leaders of massive congregations. They are judged more harshly because they have a greater responsibility.
Yes we should give grace but as pastors they above all others should keep their word. Paul said follow me as I follow Christ. He led by example, these men are poor examples of disciples
Timothy 3:2-10 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God 's church? 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

I agree with you! I'm not saying we shouldn't hold him accountable, or that what he did was okay.
But what happens after someone falls? Do they not have hope? Is there no forgiveness for them? What about restoration?

@@shapingtheculturepodcast4999 I believe there should be restoration to fellowship (IF there's been repentance) not necessarily to leadership (depending on whether its a serious, impacting sin).

@@majose7787 do you have biblical grounds for that? Genuinely asking. To know my knowledge, IF there is repentance there's room for leadership.

@@shapingtheculturepodcast4999 considering one of the criteria in 1 Tim 3 for leadership is "above reproach", an egregious sin or habitual, prolonged sin pattern may do more harm to the body of Christ if such a person is restored to visible, public leadership (even AFTER repentance). God has mercy upon us when we repent but He doesn't always remove the consequences.....we need to think of the Church's reputation amongst the watching world too.

@@shapingtheculturepodcast4999I think the implication of 1 Timothy 3’s “Qualifications of an elder” is that an elder can be disqualified. I think it’s up to each local church to determine on a case by case basis using that list but if we were to think that an elder could never be disqualified just because he is “called” is kind of scary and I don’t think biblically sound.

My issue with Carl Lentz coming back is that he didn’t really even mention God or Jesus at all in his podcast and in many PR interviews. Same with his wife.
