Nice! There's a building downtown that houses our public school registration center that has a Simplex 4008 system with TrueAlert horn/strobes. The building was built in the 80s, so the 4008 system is definitely not the original.
Make sure the baud rate is set to one that the panel can communicate with (should be 9600, I think). Then set the address for an address that's 9-14 and add that number of card to the panel's programming. Hopefully the panel should see and communicate with the annunciator.
Hey Dan, nice to see a new fire alarm video from you. I gotta say, I was worried given your lack of such videos. You're one of the few "classic" members of the community left: NewAgeServerAlarm and thesdx both semi-retired, Xsk8r114's been permanently retired for years, someone named "scottparsons2008" that not many members seem to remember just disappeared one day, etc. About the 4008's main board failing: seems like you just can't buy a panel that doesn't give out after a while can you? (except some of your other Simplex panels such as your 4004 and 4002, though I'm not sure what ever happened to the 4001 you used at least a decade ago)
BTW, I've never lost interest, I've just never really went anywhere and have had attached neighbors for the past 5 years, so I can't really set off anything loud. Hopefully that'll change within the next year!
@@weatherdan882002 One thing I've never understood about the 4008 and 4006 is the display, particularly why Simplex made it almost half the width of the 4005 and 4010's. But then again, the 4005 is pretty much just a 4008 with a wider display and bigger can. (I guess even more odd is that the 4006 and 4008 are identical in design apart from number of zones)
@@TheCarson116 Yeah, the display is tiny, so you really have to make use of abbreviations. One thing that I liked about the 4006 and 4008 is that the reset time is only 15 seconds whereas the the 4005 and 4010 have a 30 second reset time. Hell this one barely takes 5 seconds to reset! Kind of a shame that they don't make the 4008 anymore and you're left with either the 4007ES or the 4010ES as options.
It's nice to see you making fire alarm videos again. Can't wait to see what's next!
Nice seeing you're uploading fire alarm videos again. Great video.

@@weatherdan882002 thanks for your help but I set to 9 and when I go into program card only goes up to 7
Love it!! Great job Dan!
Never seen a 4008 or 4006 in person

I still have the 4001 and it works just as it should. I guess they just don't make 'em like they used to!

@@weatherdan882002 Glad to hear that, best of luck in getting a chance to make some noise.
