Part 2 of Nala and me exploring the gorgeous wee town Cesky Krumlov. We couldn't resist to take a day to properly explore the area 😍. While we did enjoy walking about the town, there was one thing that we just didn't agree with. At the castle they've got a tiny bear enclosure, and while we do agree that some animals need to be kept safe we don't think that this was the case here. Czech Republic has got loads of greenery so there would be more than enough room to give those bears the home they deserve even if they need to be enclosed in.

We’re Dean & Nala, and we’ve been best friends since December 2018. I was cycling around the world when I heard Nala meowing out for me somewhere in the Bosnian mountains. With no intentions of keeping Nala, I knew i had to save the wee kitten and take her to the vet - but I was well aware of the fact that it might be a bit of a challenge considering I only had a bike. However, despite my concerns, Nala quickly climbed out of the front bag on the bike handle and straight onto my shoulder. Since then, we’ve been travelling the world together. What a beautiful city. The only black mark being that poor bear. The fact that he's all alone in there makes it exponentially worse. I've signed the petition and am praying hard that they move the poor thing to a better place with open green spaces and caves and some bear friends. Thanks, Dean, for bringing this to our attention.
Totally agree with you. Bears should not be in some concrete bins with nothing to simulate or stimulate their natural environs.

@@ModelsExInferis I've been to many in several countries. The zoo in Paris for example has many enclosures like this one. The sun bears in the Woodland Park zoo in Seattle also looks like this one. Would you like some more examples?

All the zoos I've been to, and I've been to many in several countries as well as the US because my husband likes zoos, are always too small for the type of animals they display, especially for the large cats, bears, and ruminants (giraffes), and other large mammals. One of the saddest things I have ever seen was a tiger kept in a cage the size of my bedroom in the Baltimore Zoo back in the late 80's. It had a crazed, vacant expression in its eyes and paced nonstop on a tiny circuit it had pounded into the earth of its cage. There was no stimulation and nowhere to hide from zoo-goers. Just...pacing. THE saddest thing I've ever seen with regard to this issue was at an aquarium in Hawaii where they had bred a hybrid dolphin (can't remember the other half of the hybrid) and kept it in a small, totally featureless pool toward the back of the property. It was literally flinging itself from end to end in the pool in total boredom and mental pressure. I turned around and simply left. I couldn't stay and look at another thing after that. THAT was cruel.
Some zoos are trying to do better, I know. Too many aren't.

I agree with you about the bears. Not on. I hope animal activism becomes stronger in that town. The hotel is amazing. I love it when the sign says 'Verboten' and there is Nala access all areas. LOL.

Thank you for bringing this bear to our attention. I've signed the petition and shared it with my animal activist friends, especialy Four Paws who are experts at bear rescue. The castle seems to be proud of their archaic, draconian treatment of the bear who needs to be at a sanctuary.

Petition signed for the bears. It is unacceptable in the 21st Century to keep animals like they did in the Middle Ages. They could easily change it to feature the history but show modern compassion by no longer having bears. That would serve their tourist agenda much better. It is otherwise a beautiful town.

When you watch videos of bears in the wild, it's so impressive how they catch fish and take care of their cubs. They are also adorably playful, sometimes when they accidentally enter a garden, they have so much fun bathing in pools and playing with toys and hammocks. ☺ So sad to see them like this...
Nala is so well behaved and friendly she should be able to go everywhere with you, Dean. She needs a special ID, permission to accompany you everywhere. Whether pets are allowed or not.

I agree with you Dean that no animal should be kept in four walls waking up to the same square surrounding. Animals have instincts that guide them to survive in the wild and hibernate when its time and not seat there feeling lost and entertain humans, savage just bloody savage

A beloved old friend lived in a village in Czechia for years, and I was always envious. This video reminds me of that, and of her (a wonderful dancer, sadly passed away far too young). What a lovely place. Now just replace the living bears with sculptures to represent their historic connection with the castle and move the captives to a humane environment and it will be nigh *perfect*.

The poor bear didn't even have a place to hide that I saw or any kind of shelter... I saw a little hill to climb up but didn't see at least not at this angle any shelter.. Nala, you are a one class act.. You steal the show all on your own.. God bless you two.. The day you found Nala was the very day that changed both yalls lives forever 🐈 🌟 🚌

You managed to leave the castle before the bells rang. Well done! Those poor bears. I hope the people who are against them being in such an awful enclosure are able to get them rescued. Nala is such the perfect travel companion, so easygoing, goes with flow, such a zest for life, nice to see you both got a cozy room for the end of the day.

Czech Republic has some stunning architecture. Yes it is totally unacceptable that animals should be kept like that. When i put a comment on your fb page a follower sent a message this goes back to the 16th century i think. It's high time they were made aware that this is a horrific custom. Nala is getting plenty of attention. Dungeons are scary. These steps and stairs will keep you fit Dean. That is some view from there!!!Nala is still adventurous. Have a good rest and sleep both of you😻❤️
Thank you Dean and Nala for highlighting bears being captive in such small enclosures. The castle, tower and views were so lovely, but in my mind was that bear enclosure. I have signed the petition also to free the bear(s). Nala was so adorable throughout the video. What really got my attention was when back in your room at the hotel, she flopped down on the floor, looking so content and a wee bit tired. Unforunetly the bears can't be released into the wild unless they are fairly young because they would not survive the wild unless its where they grew up in then maybe if it hasnt been too long. i do agree though that they could do something better for their areas.
@@beverleyhagaman7344 Yasuki is the beautiful dog Dean and Nala rescued in Serbia. She was severely injured, has had surgery, and is receiving physiotherapy currently.

Reminds me of Minas Tirith from LOTR. Stunning architecture. In summer it must be heavenly, though probably waaay more tourists. Royals keeping wild animals for show of status is a very old tradition that we do not need any more. That enclosure could be re-purposed into a gorgeous secret garden that could win awards. Imagine what an improvement it would be and kiddies would love it! Time for some new “Traditions” !!!
