@@judecarpenter2990 Paul D'Amour played a Ric and Magnum ovation before Justin. Not cheapo basses but they sounded killer either way without being 10k
Kello, here's the idea, how to show your collection: make a cover to a song that uses ostinato bass pattern with not a very dense mix and play each circle on a new bass. Take some song like Porcupine tree's "Hatesong" or ".3" or "Slave Called Shiver" (from the top of my head) or any song you like, not exactly Porcupine Tree :) One hell of a job to edit and put titles on each fragment, but fun to watch in the end.
You killed it man. Most videos I've seen they play with a pic and you are doing it correctly with your fingers. The funky groove Tool creates blows my mind.
This is probably my favorite TOOL song ever, and one of my favorite to play. I get pretty close with my gear (no Wal, so there's only so much I can do), but you NAIL it, as close to the real deal as I've ever heard, as usual. Great job!
This is the most inspiering bass cover video I have ever seen, from the creative way you play to the amazing sound and use of effects. would love to se a video where you go over the gear and maybe settup of your pedal bord. Keep on rocking mate :)
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've just recorded a video explaining my pedalboard. It's in Spanish but I hope to add English subtitles. It should be up in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned!
Just saw them a few days ago and have such a stronger appreciation for Justin’s bass playing! Currently learning this tune and was so happy to see you cover it! It looks so much fun to play! Great video! Greetings from Florida ✌️🤘
I agree absolutely fantastic! Justin would wholeheartedly approve! Hell if you cut your hair and wore a tie and some suspenders you would look very similar as well! Anyway I'm 43 and have been in love with the bass since 2nd grade when I saw that school had an extremely old full size stand-up with only 3 strings on it because no one actually played it. My schools music curriculum was pretty lame and the only instruments that the school had other than was I believe 2 upright pianos, a bunch of tambourines they the teacher would randomly hand out during our weekly music class, and I believe some bells and finger cimballs! We actually weren't allowed to touch the bass and I'm not 100% why but I think it had to do with it's age and the fact it's not something the teacher can just pass out and keep us busy. Although I used to always sneak up to it every chance I ever had and pluck it's remaining strings! Lol. I remember my in teacher after one of the times of me doing that and pretending that I was jamming in some old school jazz band didn't tell it yell me to stop but instead she smiled and said I can tell you really love that! Ironically I wasn't really aware of electric bass at the time and only thought that this thing is way too big for me and id make a fool out of myself just like I did in everything else just would have a hell of a time getting it on the school bus! Lol anyway I finally decided about 6 months ago to finally do it or I'd live in regret and started lessons 2.5 months ago! I only wish I would have started alot sooner and watching yourself and some others on TH-cam are giving me the push I needed! So thank you my friend!!
One of my favorite songs to play, I love Justin's style of precission and finger play , that tap to pull part in the verse is so so fun to jam to :) plus it leaves a little room for adding if you so wish .
I’ve got compliments on singing this song, but it’s nowhere close to how you attack this and execute such a great rendition, and homage to this great song.
NICE! Sometimes just getting a good look at a song that you love and have never tried playing can get a person back into playing if they've it started collecting dust. This channel worked for me!
Wow, this cover is awesome! Love that you're playing fingerstyle and not with pick like most other covers of this song.. Good job, keep it up.. Definitely motivates me to learn this song.. Thank you! :)
Timo Paulsen Most other covers are playing with a pick because that’s how Justin Chancellor recorded and plays the song (not to mention it’s probably their playing style as well). But the way this man viciously attacks the strings with his fingers is pretty sweet, and something I hope to learn from as well
+Kello Gonzalez Tnx i always wanted to learn bass but still stayed on guitar bcs of my band, now my bassist going to other country :( so we deal that i go on bass and my rytham go to lead
I have spent hours just learning how to play the opening riff of 46&2, it's so simple yet hard when you play finger style. Justin always uses a plectrum, especially on tracks like Schism with so many metre changes.

you should do a video on your bass collection
I'm not sure everyone would be interested to see that... Let me think how that could be done so it makes sense.
+Kello Gonzalez I'd definitely want to see your rig, not just your basses, your tones are spot on mate.

Agreed - my fave part of the song. So groovy yet so sexy. Amazing tone too.
It's gotta be my favourite bass riff of all time.

One of the reasons their sound cuts so deep. Every damn member is near the top of the ladder in quality.
