You could make a top 200 games on the Super Nintendo and you'd still not have covered all of the good ones, there's just SO much good stuff on the system!
Great list! Here's a few honorable mentions. Act Raiser, Pilotwings, Tetris Attack, Mickey Magical Quest, Killer Instinct, Gradius III, Doom, Mortal Kombat II, Stunt Race FX, Mario Paint, Sim City, Super Turrican, Breath of Fire 2, Ogre Battle, Final Fight, Uniracer, NBA Jam TE, Space Megaforce, Axelay, and Civilization
Totally agree and if not the best system of all time, at lease the best retro system. Also the controller really work great! I love the shoulder buttons L & R and it fit perfectly in my hand!
The firemen is actually a hidden gem i randomly just found, i modded my mini SNES and added the game to see what it's like, i think i ended up playing it for quite some time, quality game.
This is hands down the best top 50 list for snes ive ever seen. You got all my favorites except harvest moon. So glad to see a list with terranigma, illusion of gaia, and especially lufia 2 on it. Subscribing for sure
Plok! Glad someone finally appreciates the amazingness of that masterpiece. Also, King of Demons. Very short and obscure game but extremely good story, gameplay, and the music is just... *_Perfection_*
While people generally seem to prefer the Genesis/Megadrive Aladdin, the SNES game was more true to the Disney version of the character. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Al didn't go around butchering palace guards with a sword and slaughtering everything in sight in the Disney movie.
Great list. I would substitute King of Dragons, Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen, Breath of Fire, and Breath of Fire 2 for a few of the selections but that is just my taste. I would like to see a top 50 Megadrive/MegaCD/32X combo list. :)
I always have a difficult time with SNES games. I had so few growing up so I relied on renting what was available. Great list, a lot of my personal favorites in the list.
Great job and an excellent list indeed! That's cool that you put Magic Sword in here, I used to have that and knew all the secrets and correct warps. Really a fun game!
Thank you, if you enjoyed this one be sure to check out my video '50 Snes games you couldnt play.' It is a video focusing on my top 50 favourite Japan exclusives.
Oh and I thought the sound was fine, no complaints here. I know you Love complaints after all the hard work you put into this and we get to watch it for free.
Even though I say that, I still thoroughly enjoy snes games but a lot of them are very outdated. But the PS4 still has very good exclusives, such as the last guardian, the yakuza series and danganronpa, which makes me consider this statement. But for now, all I can say is that the ps2 is the holiest console to ever exist
I also loved Super Street Fighter II the most in the time, but nowadays I can understand why many preferred Turbo, due to the time when it came out and speed of the game.
Hacked Nintendo Wii would be better 🤷 I have entire video game libraries of Snes, Sega, Master System , Nes, GBA, GBC, Game Boy, Virtual Boy, Neo Geo CD, Sega CD, Famicom, Neo Geo Pocket , Turbo Grafx16 and Mame 😁 all run flawlessly . Thousands apon Thousands of retro gaming bliss. I occasionally search TH-cam for any games I may have missed to add. I also hacked my 3ds XL and pretty much did the same thing 🤷
Aladdin was good on both systems. I owned the Genesis one and rented the SNES one. I have to say I preferred the Genesis version, but that the SNES one was arguably just as good with its own charm.
Just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. Recently got back into retro gaming again and just completed Contra 3 and Donkey Kong country. I do miss my Super Nintendo. Now I play these as Roms on my Nvidia shield
Great vid. I think you covered a majority of the good titles, but I would add in the first Actraiser. Great soundtrack, fun action platforming elements, and some lite city building simulation. A couple of others mentioned Tetris Attack in their reply, a title I would also have to agree with.
Pop n' Twinbee, Parodius, Breath of Fire 1 and 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Sparkster, Uniracers, Batman Returns, Mortal Kombat 2 and Kirbys Dream Course are a few glaring standouts.
great video! one game i always loved but never see on anyone's list is True Lies as in the movie with arnold. i loved that game so much! maybe its not so well known i dont know, keep up the good work i subscribed!
Trying to limit to 50 SNES games... Oh that still leaves out at least 100 classics and fantastic games, I don't know what deity I pleased to be born to be playing the SNES when it launched and enjoying it for years!!! But who ever it was I thank you back!!! In my opinion the best system so far. (Who knows in a hundred years maybe there will be an even more epic better console.)
I personally want a remaster Plok for the Switch, if they do remaster it, I hope they really put the 3D Claymation art style used in the original box art to good use
Hello Mr Top Hat Sir... I've been waiting to see this video from you! The SNES is my favourite console of all time too. I hope (but sadly do not think it will happen) that a Nintendo console reaches this standard once again. Sooooo many great games!
Lost vikings, Rock and roll racing, Contra 3, Warlock, Joe and mac, Killer instinct, Final fight 3, T2 the arcade game, Indiana Jones greatest adventures, Super Double dragon, Super adventure island, Batman returns, Spiderman Venom Maximum Carnage, King of dragons, Pilotwings, Uniracers, Battletoads in battlemaniacs, Looney Tunes Bball, Tetris Attack and Actraiser are some honorable mentions
Hah although I did play Link to the Past when it first came out as a rental, I could never get into it enough to buy. Secret of Mana on the other hand I rented so many times, after accidentally deleting my save file, I decided that I would restart the game and so had to own it & I completed it. Amazing game indeed!
I know it's hard to make a top 50 list, but omitting the best beat em up Ninja Warriors, and one of the best action platformers of the generation Hagane? I'd take that 10 times over the plodding Castlevania 4. Oh of course, Hagane doesn't have the "Konami" logo on it, and it's not the sequel to an Nes trilogy, makes sense why it's not as recognized. Other than those highlight omissions, a very great list. Strong effort overall.
Great list Top Hat! SEGA really had such a grasp on South/Latin America and Europe that many childhoods missed out on these 16-bit Nintendo masterpieces, but I'm glad you weren't one of them. Three words...Super Play Magazine.
A fine list indeed. Too bad The Ninja Warriors or Hagane: The Final Conflict was not included but you can only fit so many good games into list of 50. Also, Wild Guns just got the Wild Guns Reloaded PS4 revision which I prefer over the original so if you have the system I recommend giving it a go! You can even get physical copy of it if you're so inclined!
I loved Super Nintendo as a kid in the 90's and I'm still learning about games I didn't know existed. I just played Ghoul Patrol which is a sequel to Zombies ate my neighbors.
I spent this whole video thinking "If terranigma isn't on this list, then it's crap". I was not disappointed though. Sadly I didn't get to enjoy that game until I was an adult since it's a PAL exclusive.
Be grateful you grew in the North American region with the SNES, us Pal people missed out on Chrono Trigger, The Final Fantasys, Mario RPG and Earthbound haha.
It always amazes me how the different regions missed out on games, even here in the US we didn't get everything released :( Then it's so hard to find a list of Japanese games that you can play with out being able to read Japanese :( All the Japanese games I have enjoyed is all via trial and error or finding a video on youtube about it or a friend suggesting them. Then I hear Pal region totally got screwed on prices :( like we would get games here 50-60 dollars for the most part (some where more but they usually where worth it.) but then I hear Pal people had to pay like 60-80 pounds and I believe at the time 1 pound was like 2 US Dollars!!!! outrageous!!!!
RoboTronix I know a way to play JP super Famicom games while using it legitimately and understanding the Japanese. Look at retron 5 as if you get an ds card and find the website for English translation patches and you have original cartridges then it will translate as you play the game and you play it legitimately you can also do it will mega drive games and Famicom games like Zyuranger
A few years ago I bought a bunch of Capcom games for the PS3 and PS4 over at Humble Bundle and the arcade version of Magic Sword was among them. A really cool game.
Nice list! I'm missing Wild Guns (have Wild Guns Reloaded on PS4), The Firemen, Terranigma, and Pocky & Rocky 2. Should probably do a little importing. :)
Hello from Albuquerque New Mexico !!!! Great video I am adding games to my snes classic and wanted to add games I never played so thanks for the suggestions. I had been also looking for the name of a game you added to your list as a played it when I was young but I couldn't remember the name of the game and it was legend of the hidden ninja so thanks very much!!!!
I came back and watched this video again 5 years later after your discussion about the Ign video and Super Metroids placement. Lol. Also wanted to see where A link to the past and Super Mario World fell.
Nice list, i have 47/50 of games listed, only missing Soul Blazer, Lufia and Earthworm Jim :) I would replace maybe Earthworm Jim 2 with Final Fight 3 :P
1. Mega Man 7 2. Mega Man X 3. Super Metroid 4. Super Mario All-Stars 5. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 6. Tetris Attack 7. Super Mario World 8. Yoshi’s Island 9. Kirby Super Star 10. Zelda A Link to the Past
Nice list, there were even a couple I never heard of. Also, no Arkriser? Come on, it may not be top 25, since the SNES has so many good games, but it definitely deserves a place on the top 50. Come to think of it, you should have done a top 100...
Mega Man X3 is a deserving trophy title as it is a chip title. Mine is Doom for the SNES. I have almost all the major chip titles, mostly on Super Famicom carts, but missing Star Ocean and Mega Man X3.
My Top 50 Greatest Super Nintendo Games of All-Time (from A-Z) 1. Aerobiz 2. Aerobiz Supersonic 3. Blackthorne 4. Chrono Trigger 5. Contra III: The Alien Wars 6. Demon’s Crest 7. He said Super Nintendo had slim pickin's for beatemups? King of Dragons, Final Fight 1,2 and 3, Knights of the Round, Captain Commando, Maximum Carnage, Sonic Blast Man 1 and 2, Batman Returns, Double Dragon games, Battletoad games. THE SNES is a beatem'up beast!
It's amazing to me that a single console had so many incredible games. Gosh, we were lucky in the '90s!
Just goes to show folks - quality doesn't come from graphics, it comes from gameplay.
It was the golden age of gaming. Wish we could have quality games like these again. They're too far in between these days.
You could make a top 200 games on the Super Nintendo and you'd still not have covered all of the good ones, there's just SO much good stuff on the system!
Im having a hard time even finding a dozen games I like coming in to the system for the first time now.
I need more lists like this to give me ideas.
Great list! Here's a few honorable mentions. Act Raiser, Pilotwings, Tetris Attack, Mickey Magical Quest, Killer Instinct, Gradius III, Doom, Mortal Kombat II, Stunt Race FX, Mario Paint, Sim City, Super Turrican, Breath of Fire 2, Ogre Battle, Final Fight, Uniracer, NBA Jam TE, Space Megaforce, Axelay, and Civilization
Michael Knight and this is why the SNES is the greatest system of all time
Totally agree and if not the best system of all time, at lease the best retro system. Also the controller really work great! I love the shoulder buttons L & R and it fit perfectly in my hand!
Michael Knight love tetris attack! So many good memories with that one
Mystic Quest
Absolutely agree
The firemen is actually a hidden gem i randomly just found, i modded my mini SNES and added the game to see what it's like, i think i ended up playing it for quite some time, quality game.
Glad to hear you had a great time with that game
Wow. I thought nobody knew that game anymore! Also, the music is fire.
Where'd you find? im wanting to play
this may be the best video you've ever produced! it's well paced, engaging, personal and probably the longest video yet without feeling tedious
Earthbound, A Link to the Past, and Super Mario World were the games that defined my childhood and are some of my favorites ever

Great job and an excellent list indeed! That's cool that you put Magic Sword in here, I used to have that and knew all the secrets and correct warps. Really a fun game!
This is for sure the best vídeo about SNES games that I have éver seen, I just subscribed to your channel, greetings from Brazil!
Thank you, if you enjoyed this one be sure to check out my video '50 Snes games you couldnt play.' It is a video focusing on my top 50 favourite Japan exclusives.
I always forget the Pocky & Rocky games, those are amazing.
Oh and I thought the sound was fine, no complaints here. I know you Love complaints after all the hard work you put into this and we get to watch it for free.
I always got Illusions of Gaia confused with Secret of Evermore. Your vid helped me clear that up LOL.
7:28 The manga U.N. Squadron was based on is called "Area 88", which is also the name of the game in Japan.
Also the name of the acarde version that is 2player
The SNES and megadrive have far better exclusives than the PS4 and Xbox one.
Ps4 has some great stuff, but yeah I'd absolutely agree.
Cough, Cough, Nostalgia blindness, Cough, Cough
Even though I say that, I still thoroughly enjoy snes games but a lot of them are very outdated. Yep all they really have now is HALO and COD, besides that nothing really.
I also loved Super Street Fighter II the most in the time, but nowadays I can understand why many preferred Turbo, due to the time when it came out and speed of the game.
Great list! SNES line up was soooooo good.... miss those days...
Im adding every game you mentioned to my new snes mini ! ;)
M3KAL check out my video on 50 Japanese snes exclusives and do the same for them too!
M3KAL same hehe
M3KAL how can you do that? A simple way please!
Hacked Nintendo Wii would be better 🤷 I have entire video game libraries of Snes, Sega, Master System , Nes, GBA, GBC, Game Boy, Virtual Boy, Neo Geo CD, Sega CD, Famicom, Neo Geo Pocket , Turbo Grafx16 and Mame 😁 all run flawlessly . @@wisewords8972 PC is even better. You can do everything you mentioned, and up to even current consoles. PS2 and the like.
Agreed about Plok, that game was awesome!
Shadowrun for the SNES is a fun game.
Aladdin was good on both systems. I owned the Genesis one and rented the SNES one. I have to say I preferred the Genesis version, but that the SNES one was arguably just as good with its own charm.
Sharif Sourour The Snes one was more realistic too, why the bloody hell would a Disney character going around slashing people with a sword?
Just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. Recently got back into retro gaming again and just completed Contra 3 and Donkey Kong country. I do miss my Super Nintendo. Now I play these as Roms on my Nvidia shield
i want you to do a top 50 Genisis/MegaDrive collection... i want to see your opinions on your top 50
Great vid. I think you covered a majority of the good titles, but I would add in the first Actraiser. Great soundtrack, fun action platforming elements, and some lite city building simulation. A couple of others mentioned Tetris Attack in their reply, a title I would also have to agree with.
This was a great video and a great list! You should do a top 50 on Gameboy games.
Pop n' Twinbee, Parodius, Breath of Fire 1 and 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Sparkster, Uniracers, Batman Returns, Mortal Kombat 2 and Kirbys Dream Course are a few glaring standouts.

Great video ,)To bad I start collecting SNES late.So dam expensive theese days :S
I personally want a remaster Plok for the Switch, if they do remaster it, I hope they really put the 3D Claymation art style used in the original box art to good use
I'll be adding many of these games to my SNES Mini.
I went on this video purely to find games that I can add to my SNES Mini
same lol
I'm definitely on the nostalgia boat here.
Hello Mr Top Hat Sir... I've been waiting to see this video from you! The SNES is my favourite console of all time too. I hope (but sadly do not think it will happen) that a Nintendo console reaches this standard once again. Sooooo many great games!

i play terranigma for entire year, the puzzle is sooooooooo obscure but really fun once you discover the way, ahhhh nostalgia
Ah, SNES... Yoshi's Island is like... my childhood defining game.
Same.
Great list Top Hat! SEGA really had such a grasp on South/Latin America and Europe that many childhoods missed out on these 16-bit Nintendo masterpieces, but I'm glad you weren't one of them. Three words...Super Play Magazine.

How about a to 50 games that influenced you as a gamer. Love the videos too.
I spent this whole video thinking "If terranigma isn't on this list, then it's crap". I was not disappointed though. Sadly I didn't get to enjoy that game until I was an adult since it's a PAL exclusive.

Best console purchase of my life was snes classic. Hacked it into getting every game on the system
Superb games, all big favourites of mine. Mind you, I didn't know Lufia II - so, I will make certain I play that one!
A few years ago I bought a bunch of Capcom games for the PS3 and PS4 over at Humble Bundle and the arcade version of Magic Sword was among them. A really cool game.
I don't care that you recorded the voice while in your bathroom, it's great compilation 😂
Nice list! I'm missing Wild Guns (have Wild Guns Reloaded on PS4), The Firemen, Terranigma, and Pocky & Rocky 2. Should probably do a little importing. :)
Glad to see Street Fighter Alpha 2. It may have the load times and overheat, but it is a solid fighter and technical marvel
Awesome be sure to check out my video on the Top 50 snes games that remained exclusive to Japan too.
It's so much fun to add games through Hakchi. I love it!
The top 50 amiga games would be nice or the top 50 Amstrad CPC games
I think Ardyn is the best bad guy in the series. He's very lovable and his darkness enters the story in a similar way that Sephiroth did in VII.
I freakin love that secret of mana was the first game you showed. Best snes game ever if you ask me
Most all British TH-camrs do top 50 Megadrive lists. So it's unique and refreshing to see one do a top 50 on a Nintendo system.
I was one of the children who grew up with the less popular SNES.
I'm sure most will cover both systems eventually. I know I did.
Awesome video keep it up!
Top 50 Game Gear/Master System games!
Another excellent video sir. Well done
Glad to see secret of evermore get some love here. Underrated imo
Very fine list. The only game I can think of that I didn’t see was Final Fight.
What's up with Super Mario Kart? Going off-road doesn't slow you down and BOTH characters are in first place... what?!
Emmett Turner hahaha holy crap I didn't even notice that
My favorite SNES game is Mario RPG i am playng right now i have 4 stars so far and i enjoyt so much!
This is great Thanks
This is by far my favorite gaming platform!
Chrono #1 for sure totally agree ! Mario world #2 Mario Kart #3
A few there I've not ever played, so shall give them a go 👍
I don't worry about difficulty on The SNES because that's what a game genie is for and I still have mine on both the Snes and Sega Genesis.
still playing on an old super nintendo here on a old CRT TV! :) did get one of those sd2snes cartridges, its great!
So you have Secret of Evermore in your list, hah?
Now I trust you.
Excellent list!!
Magic Sword was first an Arcade game, which stole most of my quarters as a youth. I WISH I had it on SNES, i would be much richer today.
Did you have Super Contra? I may have missed it if you did, great list either way!!!

I owned and completed Chrono Trigger back in the SNES heyday and then played the hell out of it on emulators when they started coming out Haha
Great video!
I missed out on Lufia II back in the day, have to try that out, looks awesome!
I played lufia 2 as a kid. To this day its my all time favorite. You wont regret it
I know this is a really old post, but anyone who hesitates should really try it out. It was such an underrated rpg at the time.
Nice list, there were even a couple I never heard of. Also, no Arkriser? Come on, it may not be top 25, since the SNES has so many good games, but it definitely deserves a place on the top 50. Come to think of it, you should have done a top 100...
Good list there, although I still like Mega Drive's games library better.
I just want to give a shoutout to The Adventures of Batman and Robin
Im happy to see Soul Blazer! What a great game!
im actually relieved someone else struggled with super star wars i thought i was always just bad
Something went wrong on narration during Super Castlevania IV. Typical good video regardless.
Mega Man X3 is a deserving trophy title as it is a chip title. Mine is Doom for the SNES. I have almost all the major chip titles, mostly on Super Famicom carts, but missing Star Ocean and Mega Man X3.
this video brings back memories
Top 50 GameGear Games next please xD
I got most of these games. I got some i need to get. Thanks for advice on what to go for

A top 50 Dreamcast games list... Yeah!!!!
Nice video ☺️ The games can also be played wonderfully on the RG351 devices. I made a couple of videos about it. Greetings 👍👋
