@@sundriedplatypus Right. Or you could try to read for context, next time. The OP didn’t compare Caelin’s performance to Richard Smith’s, or his talent to Richard’s; he was impressed by the cover done by someone so young. Perhaps when Caelin has another 30+ years under his belt he might try this again and who knows what the future end result might be? Or should nobody post any piece because you will dismiss it as it’s not performed by ? Richard Smith, Tommy Emmanuel or any of the greats don’t think that way; they are thrilled at the talent of new and young artists. But then, they probably lack your perspective. Try harder.
Only people who play the guitar know how much difficult can be this piece. Despite the difficulty your flow is very good, changing most of those chords require several years of daily practice ... You really impressed me.
Most of the folks who tackle this piece don't tackle the bridge as you (and Richard Smith) have done. Fabulous job, and it will only get better (you're so young!)!
True. Im learning this piece right now and I was planning to avoid the bridge. But lets see. this gives me motivation to learn it as well. CErtainly looks tricky
Very, very nice. I was impressed with the fluidity of your fingering. Your right hand moved effortlessly up and down the fret board. One thing I’ve often wondered though; why do left handed guitarists play with their right hand on the frets. I’m a left-handed person, and I play the guitar with my left hand on the neck. It seems more logical and easier too. But, I’m obviously wrong; I just don’t know why.
My lord! That must have taken you years to learn and you are absolutely on the money. I have only been playing a few years and I am 64 years old. I don't have enough time left in my life to get 10 percent as good as you.
@@hezitate7250 It takes 2 months to learn it *if you've playing for literal years and years.* Therefore, years. I've been playing for 20+ years, and if you genuinely think this is learnable for a newer guitarist in two months you're drop dead insane. Maybe you can learn the base chords and shapes, but to act like you can pick up the technical nuance without being a significantly good guitarist is crazy. Don't be that guy. This piece is HARD.
Great skill. It is something my sainted father did with his guitar, my cousin skillfully mastered Santana sound and I could strain my fingers and and no sound from my fingernails. Proud of you and thanks dor that stress relieving rendition. 👏👏👏👏👍👍😇🕊
Nice! You sound great! This video has almost 30 thousand views too! That's incredible! I've been learning Richard's arrangement. It's pretty tough. Congratulations on a job well done!!
Impressive. What a way to start a musical life, well done,Caelin.Musicality is++........Who was it that said "All you got to do is play the notes in the right order"...lol.
Fascinated by the alterations you made especially the brief counter-melody at the end of the second section ... I'm so hard-pressed to get what's written I haven't even considered making changes. Speaking of what's written, you skipped a repeat of the part just after the reprise of the main theme. Intentional? Also sounds like you added an extended harmony line in the main theme, as well as extended the last chord in the intro to make it a little more jazzy. There are probably even more variations ... doing your own thing here, which is cool. One other note -- you play the intro line like it starts on an up-beat, as does Richard Smith. But it actually starts at the beginning of the measure on a down beat. Since I've always heard it as starting on an up-beat it's been really hard to conceive of as starting on the down beat. I mean, there's no other instruments who's going to know, but there is a subtle difference.
I hesitate to point it out but Richard's arrangement was basically Chet Atkins arrangement from the 1970's. Don't believe me? put "Chet Atkins the entertainer" into the search box at the top of this page. I feel sure Richard wouldn't mind. 😊 EDIT: Come to think of it, the arrangement was likely by Dr. John Knowles who did many of the arrangements for Chet back then.
Great job! Im learning this but on steel string, its a bit harder but you did amazing! Try to enjoy the tune, I know u are concentrating but this is a whimsical tune and should be enjoyed by all(including the player!). Bravo!
When Richard Smith, a professional well renowned guitarist did this, I was impressed. But to see a young up n comer do this, IM BLOWN AWAY 🔥💯
No one plays it like Richard tbh he’s the acoustic guitar master of the universe especially his version of this
It same i said!
@@PoppinPortraits It had to be said. Comparing this kid to Richard Smith would be like comparing a Fortune 500 CEO to Julius Caesar.

Good job man, this is an insanely hard piece
That was really good even the final part which is impossible you played really smoothly

this would be A LOT easier to learn on a classical guitar. Steel string guitars are very difficult to fingerpick on.
@@allstarwatt7246 Yeah that's a true. It's also easier to control dynamics with classicalm
Holy cow that's amazing! Hopefully I can learn this some day haha
Random question: what is your guitar's action height? I'm very curious
Have you tried playing this on a steel string guitar?
Was this to get into a college or something? Can't imagine a 17 year old would spend so much time on this song.
