Coastal Karnataka is heaven. Even more during rainy season. And crossing Western ghat from coastal Karnataka to Pune Bengaluru highway from just any part of Karnataka is super scenic. Be it through Alnavar, Yellapur, Agumbe or anywhere.
My entire family worked in Ksrtc starting from my grandpa (Bengaluru central depot) later after his demise my grandma (Shantinagar administrative office) , my uncle (Mysuru rural depot) and now my cousin sister (Gundlupete, Mysuru division office). So right from my childhood KSRTC is emotion for me. I used to go along with grandma to Shantinagar administrative office to renewal her free travel pass issued every year after retirement. I have even met KSRTC MDs, PROs often during tht time and they used to give department's calendar, chocolates to me❤.

I travel frequently on the Mumbai-Udupi route, and the Airawat is one of my favorite buses. And yes, they are the fastest, also because they reach Mumbai before the rush hour kicks in. Clifford is very popular among the bus enthusiasts and last October I did travel with Clifford/Rajesh/Manjunath. Previously Clifford's team had Rabin and Kini (conductor). Presently the only 2=2 Volvo on this route especially after Canara Pinto discontinued theirs 4 months back. Heard they are converting it into sleepers. Generally the Airawats on the Mumbai-Mangalore route is 3600 and 3601. But your bus was 3972. Don't know whether it's a temporary change. The Belgavi-Nipani section is undergoing upgradation from 4-lane to 6-lane. Also, the chicken neck of the Mumbai-Bangalore route (Hubli-Dharwad bypass) is also getting upgraded from 2-lane to 6-lane. After the completion of the missing link and all these, the travel time should hopefully come down by an hour.
Bro as a frequent traveller do you have any idea about running economics of volvo multi or scania multi axle bus in this route..usually how do they make good profit from this nearly1000km long route...
Today morning i just came back from belgavi to pune by Barde travels..Blegavi to Satara heavy road expansion going on Tavandi ghat now a days is more dangerous...Also too many diversions are not signify where should take right or left...most of journey is on service road rather than highway😢...cross fingers work will complete in next 6 month for better travel..😅

Before VRL was in same route & same model buses like ksrtc...now they cancelled via karkala..This one is very nice bus.
