    Canada.... Make the most of Toys R Us. I may not live in Canada but it fills me with joy to see that Toys R Us lives on. The last Item I got from toys r us before it closed for good was a mega blocks destiny set and it was really sad to see the store go.

    I'm already planning for a trip to Canada to see Toys R Us maybe next year or the year after. Completely heart broken that they closed here in the US.

      star whisper the reason why they are still open in Canada is that, Canada bought the rights to keep Toys R Us open.

    I absolutely love ToysRus and hope that it never leaves Canada! So much great merch under one roof! It is the toy store that "raised me".
    Sorry about the angled camera... I was distracted by all the cool merch!

      Ugh this makes me so sad and jealous! I miss Toys R Us in Texas!!! My Toys R Us wasn’t even half the size of this one, this one is huge!

      It won't. The Canadian operations were bought by a Canadian company. They're going to change it a little bit...more like Chapters book store where you can spend some time and enjoy yourself.

      JORDBRICKS Same when I was younger that is where my parents got most of my birthday/ Christmas presents. My birthday is 4 days before Christmas. Now ai mostly go to target. Or the lego website if a set is missing parts.

    Man, lucky. they're closing down here in Australia now. So sad. Hoping they can come back somehow, but can't see it happening sadly. Will go there in a few weeks to pay my respects (and last of my paycheck). So many memories.

      The Canadian operations were bought out by a Canadian company. Their only real competition in Canada is Wal-Mart and in Canada Wal-Mart doesn't have very much. And it makes me feel like I'm losing IQ just being there. I can't do Wal-Mart. 😂

    • @GJBricks

      Rose Stewart lol! We don’t have them in Australia. I did visit one last time I was in the states. Can fully relate! An awful place!
      I think toys r us needs to downsize a little to survive. A few less toys and a more focused experience would help them a lot I believe

    It’s so sad the end’s Toy R Us in US. I never will forget the store in Times Square, was amazing! I visited there when I was in NY. I think that I never will see something like that again.

    Great store!
    I must admit, the couple of times that I visited a few toys r us store here in the UK, it was not a great experience and if they ran the whole group like they did the few that I visited, I am rarely not surprised they went under here in the UK / USA.
    Your store looks spotless, well stocked and well laid out, I just remember walking in to what felt like a kids creche come jumblesale.
    Brilliant video, just wish you had spent a bit more time going around the technic and electronics department though!

    Toys r us killed itself by refusing to change their business model. The older sets are discounted at Wal Mart and Amazon but were at or above retail at TRU. That alone killed them off. I stopped going there long ago when I tried to order something for instore pick-up get there and they dont have it even though the email said they did. Plus pricing and limited selection of sets

    • @trolljones4386
      @trolljones4386 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raymond Wright no this is just wrong as the leveraged buyout by 3 investment groups back in 2005 is what actually killed them.

    • @rdubthebrickmaster
      @rdubthebrickmaster 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also refusing to change their business model also contributed to their downfall. In their final days I went to my local store and they had 5% off lego sets then as they sold them off the discounts were increased, There were sets they were selling for $22.99 that retailed for $19.99 and Wal Mart, Target and Amazon sold for $15.99. Also the larger sets were $15-$25 more. I shop at a small toy chain which their lego selection is limited. The founder of that company told me that Lego sets the srp on the sets and retailers can chrage what they want for them but TRU had prices higher than the srp and then reduced to the srp and called it a sale price. I stopped shopping at TRU because the selection was horrible and the prices were a lot higher than other retailers. I order my lego from Walmart, Amazon Target and SAH. I bought a few small sets in the final days of TRU and hated to see them go under but they needed to adapt their business model to the changing consumer as all businesses should.

      Thats absolutely wrong, Toys R Us was still profitable and doing well, the issue wasn't really the competition, the issue was the company that bought toys r us in the USA, borrowed all the money to pay for the assets. The issue with that is that the owners still own billions of dollars that they borrowed in a loan, and that gets put into Toys R Us debt. Simply the only way to pay the debt was to sell all the assets in the company and shutdown.

    In the US Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy in September 2017 in like March 2018 it said there closing most of its U.S. stores now in June 2018 it got ready to close now in July 2018 it has closed already (Note: US Toys R Us closed in the end of June)

    • @rosestewart1606
      @rosestewart1606 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Petra Arellano and the reason why Toys R Us Canada is open is the judge agreed to divide the corporation and the Canadian stores were sold to a Canadian company. The Canadian stores were still making a profit.
      Whatever was happening in the US was not happening here but a large part of it was probably the 2008 recession which we didn't have here and families still haven't really recovered.

    Wow I can fly to Canada for my toys r us fix...i thought they were closing all stores...i hope your store stays open..cool video thanks for sharing..

    • @rosestewart1606
      @rosestewart1606 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      patrick j forde it won't. The stores are owned by a Canadian company now. The bankruptcy court allowed them to divide the corporation because the Canadian stores weren't losing money.

  • @bricklover2258
    @bricklover2258 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So it was for some reason just the U.S stores weird. When I went to my local toys r us before it closed I only found very little lego nothing good that I liked. But that day I was not done and went to my local target and walmart to see what I could find came home with a grey baseplate and 2 lego sets for my forest area. How many studs are wasted in the back of modulars? If you know. I am asking since you have moudlars in your city I also want to know for my cutom modular I am working on.

They're going to make it more of an experience like Chapters so it's going to work better here for Canadian consumers...because you have to be able to play if you're going to buy 😂

      Wither v.i.p 2213 nope. They're owned by a Canadian company here now. And Wal-Mart in Canada is not good unless you're shopping for small appliances or halal food.
      I think they did try to take over the toy market here but they have less toys now than Ikea, Scholars Choice or Mindbenders. Canadians love their toys and sports equipment and people are willing to drive for better selection.
