Top video, thank you for sharing it. Just got my first T4 and have learnt so much from this one video. Having watched many others, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest for information and how to do it.
Brilliant video , you cover almost everything , and make it look so easy " I've got to do my VW crafter campervan , but now feel more confident about doing it , Well that's after I've watched the video another dozen times . cheers, john.
Hi! Great vid. Question re condensation. Mine is a mini stealth camper, so no windows except a section I've cut in the bulk head. I've ply lined walls, doors and ceiling (floor was already done) and stuck bubble foil, one layer direct to metal, one layer on back of the ply (there is an air gap in between). Now it's just the edges around the panels that's exposed metal, and these get wet sometimes. I don't want to carpet the whole inner for various reasons. Would it be sensible or stupid if I carpeted just the metal edges, and left the ply panels as they are?
The can says to spray both sides, wait a while and then use it as contact adhesive. I was a bit worried about that - your idea to just spray the carpet and stick it straight on is much better, it allows for movement, will dry anyway and a later smooth-down will stick any unstuck concave bits anyway.
I do spray both surfaces, the metal and the the carpet (outside the van so not always on film) otherwise it will sometimes peel off very easily or not adhere at all.
60 seconds or so and slowly lay it down and stretch where needed, if something creases just pull it back up and relay it again a it's usually quite forgiving stuff
Hi, I am currently experimenting with my van ceiling, I am covering floor protection boards with 4way stretch. They measure 1000x600 , are very light weight and can be easily cut with scissors . I paid £30 for 10 panels. I am using Velcro type tape to fix to the thin ply ceiling( only the hook required as it sticks too the 4way which is folded over the edge of the panels and glued. It’s just like making door cards really but these are very lightweight.
Thanks yeah it really isn't that hard to do, just take your time, clean down any area's before applying glue and try and concentrate on where there might be any joins to try and get them to blend in and jobs-a-good-un...
Hi, Would you happen to know how high temp that glue was? My summers get hot and I was going to carpet my van but was worried it might melt and fall off.
I believe up to 130c which is very high, I've not had any problems with it so far and have always used Trim-Fix, should be a link in the video description
Thanks, I bought 15mx2m (30msq) because of the hightop requiring more carpet than a tintop would need, although this still wasn't enough to do the back doors as well
Oh sorry, no I meant would it be a problem for me to glue the carpet straight onto the metalwork of the van with no sound deadening or insulation as a barrier to the cold, I remember cold mornings getting frost on the inside of the van, I wouldn’t want it getting mouldy.
I wouldn't like to say either way, I think it might get damp during cold nights but can't say for certain. At least ply line the van if you can so there's an air barrier between the metal and the ply/carpet, then if you want to insulate later, it'll be easy to remove the ply and refit
Mint video pal, pick up my lwb t5 next week can’t wait to get started converting I’m sure I’ll be back for more hints and tips What side wall insulation have you used and is it just taped straight onto the metal panels?. Great videos very helpful

It's your van so you can do whatever you want to it, but yes carpet at least the exposed bare metal and that should stop it getting damp
Thanks love 😊
nice job done looks nice inside
thanks
Have you got a video of you insulating and lining the high top please??
Part 5 of the T5 series covers insulation with the high top
Cracking job mate
Thanks

@@TheCampervanBuilder Ah Ok, do you wait a few minutes before sticking it down?

Hi, are you only applying adhesive to carpet and not the other surface.cheers
both

Love it great job now I can do with confidence.
You made the job look a lot easier than I was expecting 👍🏻

Nice and comprehensive. Cheers!
nice video. i also want to carpeting my T4. What kind of carpenter do you used?
carpet is just standard stretch carpet bought off ebay
Brilliant job man. Looks like a pain in the ass but well worth it I'm sure! Subbed!
It''s not a bad job to do really, done in a day and cheaper than paying someone else to do it

Camper Conversion Thanks and good luck with your build!
Excellent vid, thank you. How many square metres did you need to use for this?

Thank you. Your videos have encouraged me to have a crack myself.
super job
Cheers
is it safe for the metal? Is the metal not now more prone for rust? I would like to carpet my van to but I am a little scared about rusting.
The metal has paint on so you’re only carpeting on top of the paint so metal isn’t effected at all
Could you carpet the bare metal with no problems? I’m on a tight budget.
Are you asking if I can carpet your van?

Niiiice easy as that, I hope 🤞

Great videos very helpful
THanks I used Celotex insulation, there is a video on my channel covering it and yes, just taped in place with foil tape
Camper Conversion Fantastic thanks for the reply start mine next week
I tried to do this in my Ford Tourneo. It doesn't look great, I made lots of mistakes. I wish I had watched this first. 😢
It should be easy enough to pull off the old stuff and try again to get it neater if you wanted a better finish
