    All a pleasure to have fry. Lucked out with first attempt at discus breeding. One pair had about 200 fry. They are now about 110 days old have about 120-130 remaining. Have lost some along the way, specially around “the 30 day syndrome”. Slow grower . enjoy them

      How much do you have to change their water?

    • @josepolanco1228
      @josepolanco1228 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sopbape8120 you can change 20 -50 % every second day. Dont get disappointed if you loose some along the way. “ is difficulty to keep them alive” sometimes. The store i use more often said that. They have many years of experience and the also have difficulty keeping them alive. Feed them frequently. And if you can use potassium permanganate once a week. Used by many discus breeder that do it professionally. Thanks for your question

      @@josepolanco1228 thanks for your response, how much do you feed the discus when they're in the breeding tank, when they lay their eggs and when the frylings hatch?

    Congrats! That is very exciting. Round two with my kribs in the community tank. I'll pull the fry this time I think. At least some!

    It is such a wonderful thing to see happening, myself I have 3 breeding couples in my show tank, and not able to place more then 1 more breeding tank which holds now 3 weeks old fry, second time breeding from this pair, I have a little over 100 babies free out swimming and eating.. will wait till the 5th week to remove parents.. but yes it is a awesome journey to take.

    Great vid!
    My discus barely touch brine shrimp.
    Their preferred food is my homemade which is mainly salmon, squid, mussels and spinach.
    Beautiful breeding. Thanks for the params. I thought I learned on this channel that the low TDS/EC water was mainly for hatch rate 🤔improvement.
    It would be great to see you review or react to a video of a pro Discus Show if you haven't already.

    What's your plans for fluke issues with the fry? If they start dieing that'll be what the issue usually is but I'm sure you already know that. What will you use if this happens Graeme? Enjoyed this video a lot

    • @AquariumAdventures
      @AquariumAdventures  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, I'm not sure. When I was breeding more regularly I only encountered / noticed flukes a couple of times, and was advised to try PP at a low dose, but I'm not sure how effective it was in the end

    Hello, greetings from Mexico. Excelent content. I would like to know your point of view about the fact that I had a clutch with a high fertilization rate, without fungus, but on the third day, prior to free swimming, the hatched fry detached themselves from the cone, falling and dying (or perhaps they died first and then fell). Thank you.

  • @sopbape8120

    How many water changes do you do like when they havent laid eggs, when they do lay eggs, and when they're free swimming and you moventhem to another tank?

  • @platiusmango7075
    @platiusmango7075 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have new babies about 3 days old now, separated into a breeding "pen" hanging on the side of my tank. It gets good water flow etc.. I'm curious though, as they are all still just hanging out on the bottom. None are free swimming. If I stir them up, they swim about briefly and then just go to the bottom and wriggle. Many seem like they are either stuck in a clump or clinging to minor pieces of debris. I'm not sure if they are intentionally holding/biting onto debree or if they are tangled, but it looks like they are just sort of holding. Hard to say. I clean daily and put in fresh small clumps of egg yolk and some spirulina. Wondering if these are normal, or all destined to die horribly like the last batch, or if there's something I need to be doing? Any help welcome. Thanks.

    What affects survival rate more then anything thing else with discus fry is KH. You want 0KH or the eggs will harden and not hatch
