Defending a carrier task force in a F-6F-5 Hellcat
Please excuse the low fps at times, there is a whole lot going on in this mission.
AA fire is already reduced to one half of the ships, with 5 times longer reload times.

11:05 Got hit by friendly AA fire, i think. I did not notice the "Fuel Tank: Leak" message at the time. .
15:15 Approach of the carrier
15:40 "Engine: Out of Fuel", perfect timing.
16:00 Final approach, ended up pulling all the way ...
I got credited with four kills.

I've always wondered. What does the Water Injection actually do? Injecting Water into the engine doesn't seem like a good idea

***** I never knew that. Very interesting. Water can be fatal for an Internal Combustion Engine. Water is non compressable. So when the Piston moves up the Cylinder in the Compression stroke to compress the Fuel/Air mixture, it cannot.
Because the water is non compressable and could cause the Connecting Rod to snap.

It cools the mixture, the volume 'shrinks' allowing more fuel through, discovered when somebody flew through a cloud!
Water injection is NOT poured in bucket loads!!.It is a fine mist to cool the air fuel mixture which has a higher temperature due to supercharging.It is also used with methanol to prevent freezing at altitude.In sum,an anti detonant!.

@@nathan8urns915 U need a nuclear engine for a steam catapult. There were others that used gun powder & etc... but not on aircraft carriers.
@@IQstrategy P47s were actually launched from carriers once with the hydraulic cats of the time
@@RhodokTribesman Huh, never seen one on any sims, but "USS Intrepid had two hydraulic catapults on the flight deck, and one on the hangar deck. The flight catapults were used to launch heavily loaded dive bombers and torpedo planes." Could have used on P47 but did not know that P47 was used as a carrier plane.
@@IQstrategy It was never used as a carrier plane, but on the one occasion they were on carriers was for transport. 2 actually launched to intercept incoming enemies and flew to the destination of the escort carrier (which would arrive a couple days later to unload)
