This is perfect. I have dyslexia and I find following instructions like this a challenge. By talking descriptively in the beginning it helps me to understand and to remember. Definitely going to look at your other videos.
About to start a blanket with a 140 co so will be using the cable cast on. Most projects I use the long tail but I am terrible at measuring my starter tail for this. This will help the two edges to match a bit better.
Thank you for showing a clear tutorial (from beginning to end) on how to do the cable bind off. I am knitting a cowl scarf that began with a cable cast on, and I want the bind off to match. :0) I
Hello, it is me again, Delia Bottoms. I am ready to bind off, but now I am wondering if I can use the cable bind off because the stitch that I used for the cowl scarf is the seed stitch, not stockinette. What is your expert opinion?
I came across a problem while knitting a swatch this way; the cable co creates a "gap" between the co and the second row in garter stitch, while the bind off has no gap. The solution I came up with was to purl the last row instead of knitting it. I'm working mosaic carrying two colors so binding off on the other side isn't an option.
This may be a better option than I came up with, which was just to bind off on a wrong side row. 🤔 I will make a note & try it next time. Thanks for the idea! 😄
Great! Yeah, I don't know it's something I would do all the time. By the time I get to the bind off on a project, I want to do whatever bind off is the quickest so I can have the thing done! :)
It definitely is, especially if you're doing colorwork and switching from one color to the other. Most important it also makes both sides have the same tension. Usually a regular knit bind off is pretty tight.

Easy peasy instructions, thanks. I think I would, as you say, use this only if I did a cable cast on.
The cast-off actually begins @ 1:29 you're welcome 😁
Wouldn't it be faster/easier to get the twist in the stitch by knitting through the back loop instead of through the front loop?

It’s interesting. I’ll have to do some swatching to see if I think the end product is worth the extra time involved.

This was a great step-by-step tutorial. My only suggestion is that I would have liked to have seen what the back of the bind off looks like. Thanks!
Interesting. Is there a reason other than "looks" that this BO might be used? How flexible is it?
I personally would only do it for "looks." I don't find it that stretchy/flexible.
