I started learning bass recently for two reasons: 1- Les Claypool 2- I saw the other video you have where you are playing bass and seeing you trying to brbr deng hurt me so I decided I will do it better You are truly an inspiration for us aspiring bassist ❤
There could be a 3rd reason, a band called Seventh Wonder, amazing bassist, and I'd say especially on Mercy Falls and The Great Escape everyone shines just as much.
@@senditkevin thanks for the recommendation, I’ll have to give them a couple of listens since is not really my type of metal, but I’m open to it and if you have any other band you want to recommend I welcome it ✨
this went from "someone please show tankthetech this to trigger him" to "it would be hilarious if tank just casually walks in and ever so calmly just takes the bass out of niks hand with a headshake "no" and than my final thought when the bass plugin part came in "oh great, he just created every korn song ever"
Honestly u did a pretty good job. The distortion made me laugh tho. Not the tone most bassists go for outside of my grindcore project where we make is sound as crap as possible with 7 distortion pedals
As a bass player I can say - use dingwall with Parallax plugin if you wanna play bass. I am a guitar player, bass player(primarily) and vocalist and some sort of an (not very good) audioengineer that puts everything together. And I don't know why but those jokes irritate me somehow, but I understand those, and put my thumbs up for Nick
After using it the past few weeks its definitely one of my favorites! Congrats to you and the Submission Audio guys and thank you everyone on the team for the early copy!
Never truelly played bass up until a month ago, but I just filled in for our bassist for a recent show, and I was honestly loving it. I threw in some Darkglass and that tone was insane. Definitely inspiring some new music
Congrats on the plug in dude, was kinda half expecting you to put that donner bass in a mix after all the dicking around aha. Either way it was a fun video to watch. It made me smile 😊
When you're playing extended range baritones, its basically touching the feet of a bass. Touching feet is a sign of respect. What I also like is that its a StingRay, been using their all of their stuff so far, this really has some interesting and vast number of articulations.
As a person who started off obsessed with electric guitar I can honestly say after truly learning the guitar learning and a basic level of music theory I realized i love Bass way more and it's the exact Tone I've been chasing since the beginning
Got into an argument with a guy about playing bass, kept saying bass was easy to play and guitar was so much harder, I handed him my bass and said, “if it’s so easy play something” he literally just sat silently staring at it dumbfounded, and I played some shitty chord progression on his guitar. Far from an expert guitarist or bassist for that matter but I can hold a rhythm and pluck a tune
I'd probably use this if I was writing songs and feeling lazy one day or for demos. Once I start writing my own songs properly I'll be writing metal, industrial and darkwave stuff with the odd bit of folk. With a lot of the goth and non goth wave genres bass can often be seen as more important anyways and guitar is just a bit of melody or effects, this a guitar player meaning me saying this so...
Nik be trying to play something complex as if it was a guitar for some obvious reasons he mentioned in title. And I suddenly remembered a band that made me hear bass at it's finest: KoЯn (debut album). So simple yet effective.
Now that you know what bass is, can we get a 'How to Grunge' video that eventually births a whole song? Or Post-Grunge, since that's a thing. Something around Tool, Staind, Cold, that sorta musical realm.

Why do you have to take our jobs?
when are we getting a guitar mixing tutorial into a whole song?
Cheeseburgers
y did u like ur own comment?
As a bassist, this is doing as much damage to my job as AI is to artists. Keep going
If music is art, then a bassist is an artist and AI is stealing your job twice. RIP my man
midi keyboards killed the pianist industry
Exactly same
it's alright. drummers have been pretty much replaced by programming.
They took our jerbs!!
As a bass player this was a series of atrocities
So, the usual when a guitar player picks up a bass and thinks they understand it all immediately ;)
Gotta love the dedication of being silent except for “ALSO DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT-“
Gotta yell that
*WE DO FUN METAL THINGS HERE!!!*
It's a necessity.
Life is like a sandwich, whichever way you flip it, the bread comes first
As a bassist I don't know how to feel about this...
It proves 2 things: bass isn't easy, and we are just as replacable as the drummers
@@buddybleeyes I disagree with the second part here
@buddybleeyes In the studio yeah 😅. More replaceable live unfortunately
@@sean_mccadden AI will never be able to replace us. At least... I hope.

been playing bass for 15 years, never clicked on one of your vids faster. it's great, dude
You might like the band Seventh Wonder.
It's like a caveman discovering fire for the first time
you know 2024 is gonna be fire when niks first video of the year is about bass
whats next? jared dines solo on violin?
With this plugin, CPU gotta win Nik Nocturnal Awards 2024
I started learning bass recently for two reasons:

Watching every guitarist pick up a bass and act like they mastered it already and say its the easiest instrument ever. Sooo accurate 🤣🤣
this went from "someone please show tankthetech this to trigger him" to "it would be hilarious if tank just casually walks in and ever so calmly just takes the bass out of niks hand with a headshake "no" and than my final thought when the bass plugin part came in "oh great, he just created every korn song ever"
Tank and Daniel K from Electric Callboy will hopefully show Nik the error of his ways if he shows up to the next EC tour in Toronto :P
Finally Nik played true instrument
This is actually the 2nd time Nik plays a bass guitar in a video lol
YOOOO
Bro you’re a huge inspiration for writing and music creation. Thanks for doing what you do!
I wanted to play a real bass guitar before watching this, and now, my desire remains the same.
Honestly u did a pretty good job. The distortion made me laugh tho. Not the tone most bassists go for outside of my grindcore project where we make is sound as crap as possible with 7 distortion pedals

No dialogue, just subtitles on screen. I’ve been transported back to the golden age of silent film!
After using it the past few weeks its definitely one of my favorites! Congrats to you and the Submission Audio guys and thank you everyone on the team for the early copy!

Love the intro when he played a guitar song in the intro with a guitar plugin
Welcome to the rhythm section, Nik 🎉
This video proves beyond a doubt that a bass is just an 8 string guitar without the not thicc strings
Love that you played the intro to schism on the base 🤘🏻
As a (mediocre) guitarist, yes, Schism is our favorite song to pick up and play immediately when we get our hands on a bass.
Congrats on the plug in dude, was kinda half expecting you to put that donner bass in a mix after all the dicking around aha. Either way it was a fun video to watch. It made me smile 😊
*This is probably the longest infomercial I have ever seen in history.*
nik can be a one man band honestly
When you're playing extended range baritones, its basically touching the feet of a bass. Touching feet is a sign of respect. What I also like is that its a StingRay, been using their all of their stuff so far, this really has some interesting and vast number of articulations.
You should form an alter ego named Danny Diurnal who only plays piano pop music
I feel like Nik needs a Bass VI type instrument. Maybe the new Ibanez SRC6MS.
Or maybe he should get a 7 string bass and tune it to an octave below 7 string guitar or 8 string guitar minus the top string
Ibanez BTB805MS is the absolute beast
I have a Gio 6 string bass.
@@stationdisatrous647 I’ve got the Ibanez Soundgear SR306EB
Ibanez 5 slammer here
As a person who started off obsessed with electric guitar I can honestly say after truly learning the guitar learning and a basic level of music theory I realized i love Bass way more and it's the exact Tone I've been chasing since the beginning
Streching your fingers apart is the hardest part lmao
I wanna hear you play bass tho 😄
Grats on the plugin!
of course the only reason Nik would touch a bass guitar is.. to promote his bass plugin. well I want it lol
Honestly, I really like the interface and UI design. nice and clean
well here we go. BASS is finally getting some attention. xD
Probably only TOOL we will ever hear from nik
Nik make a tool video right now
1:54 TOOL MENTIONED!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
So, what he's saying is playing bass is SO hard, that it's easier to develop software to play it for you?
Second I saw him hit the pinch harmonic I went "That works!?" and immediately grabbed my bass and plugged it in. I have laughed for way too long now.
As a bassist this makes me wanna quit just music in general. Keep going
As someone whos gonna learn bass to join my friends band, and who has had a drummer replaced by a software, this scares me if i mess up
Bass is best
Got into an argument with a guy about playing bass, kept saying bass was easy to play and guitar was so much harder, I handed him my bass and said, “if it’s so easy play something” he literally just sat silently staring at it dumbfounded, and I played some shitty chord progression on his guitar. Far from an expert guitarist or bassist for that matter but I can hold a rhythm and pluck a tune
wait why does the humanize button go from: machine->Human->Basist ? XD
why the distinction of the last two lol?
I've never heard a bass sound more like a guitar than the first half of this video
I saw this at a very perfect time. I wanna buy a bass guitar. Now I really want to.
Start out with a nice ibanez sr300 or so. Inexpensive and worth every penny and then some.
Everyone has a weakness:
-Superman= Kryptonite
-Green Lantern= Yellow color
-Aquaman= No water
-Nik Nocturnal= Bass
I am happy I no longer live in an apartment. I am sure I would get complaints after listening to this video :D
It's like a reverse Jack White technique; bass for guitar, instead of guitar for base
No words... and then, "also, did you know!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glenn Fricker has been glaring at this video without blinking for 2 hours now...
As a guitar player if you have a Bass, you would be all like "This guitar only has 4 strings!"
As a bassist myself, I'm glad you feel the need to replace me, I can finally retire with 17 dollars in my bank account.
Caleb with the best edits as always😂😂💯
I love how the whole video was just an ad😂: Can’t wait to try it out.
Nik you promised us you'd discovered bass. What is this strange instrument you've pulled out instead of a fish?
If you dislike this video its most likely because you're a bass player who just got replaced by a CPU. lol
This is the longest commercial I've ever seen!!
Nik be trying to play something complex as if it was a guitar for some obvious reasons he mentioned in title. And I suddenly remembered a band that made me hear bass at it's finest: KoЯn (debut album). So simple yet effective.
Goated video. You will always outdo yourself. I laughed at least six times. Pat yourself on t the back, violently.
Same energy as "Caveman discovers fire".
I've been playing bass since I was 12 this is one of the bass videos ever
Was waiting for nik to actually show he can slap on da bass. Was not entirely disappointed.
As a tiles setter I don't know what my TH-cam autoplay is doing.
Congrats man!
*Cries in being a real bassist*
bro played shooting stars😩😭such a banger
WAKE UP MAAAAN!
There is BMTH song to react to ❤😂😂
It's time for a fast lesson from TankTheTech? 😉 Great video as always
I like how a lot of all that was Immolation of Night
That’s a legit plug-in. Longest commercial ever 😂
Every singer wants to have these powers:
- turn down the guitarist
- slow down the drummer
- sober up the bassist 😂
4:39 I thought it was bfg division
As a cliff burton fan. I can approve this is 100% cliff burton playing
Me a bassist trying out a guitar for the first time: “Why this shit so small”
*switches from 8 string*: im missing two
I have been playing guitar my hole life, and now, when I heard that tone I wanna play bass
The DID YOU KNOW THAT ONLY XX% OF YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED part jumpscared me
I can't tell if Nic releasing a BASS plugin is genius, or the greatest TROLL ever...
Give this man a 5-string IMMEDIATELY
This is like a 2SICH video and i love it
This might be my favorite video you've ever made 😂 It hurt me but was so entertaining.
Props for getting me to watch an 8 minute ad 😂😂
As a bassist, i am in pain
I love that he was in drop c to start 😂
THat's it, imma play an upright bass for metal
DO IT
I can hear it!
1:45 sounds like me doing a pinch harmonic on guitar
0:56
Nick first time sees a real musical instrument
Does anyone want to tell Nik that there is a 6 string bass.
Nik out of the water, the documentary.
CPU got the last laugh after they got snubbed at the 2023 Nocturnal Awards 😉
man, this is the year of regretting playing bass being my lifes calling -_-
This would make a good modern day Carlie Chaplin film
As a bassist I may as well give up now this is fucking sick. Keep going
Now that you know what bass is, can we get a 'How to Grunge' video that eventually births a whole song? Or Post-Grunge, since that's a thing. Something around Tool, Staind, Cold, that sorta musical realm.
