I own the Mazda 2 sedan right now, and I never regret my decision.
Bought the version before the newer ones launched. It's great to drive, very fuel efficient (managed to get 16-17km/l on 92 RON fuel), quite practical (the boot is very large, well, at least in the sedan LOL), and man, it's been such a joy to drive this around. Hoping to drive the car around the country soon!
Loved the content, uncle! Keep it up!

8 years coming 9 years M2 Sedan Sktactiv owner.. served well n fun.. 220k Km n still going strong, minimal problems n just normal wear n tear. had a nice bath in hood covering banjir once n seems hydrolocked, 3 days dried up, drain n replace oil still runs like a champ. comp test all good. for me its a great n durable car built to last.. im one of those "a redline a day keeps the mechanic away" kinda guy n it is yet to show any engine problems.

I once sat in the older gen Mazda 2. Full load to lunch and I notice how the car exit the corner with pretty impressive acceleration with heavy load. Mazda car does churn out power easily. It is a good car to have.

I was on the edge of my seat back here in Michigan as he zoomed up that climb- better than a TV suspense thriller. I have this same car* and love the way it handles and the fuel economy and the looks. I also enjoy the sound of that 1.5 engine but I've never had mine rev so long and so high, so I turned my computer sound all the way up and just got into the driving expertise and the performance of this sweet little car. This guy is funny and cool, but I hope he can steer clear of any accidents... * Actually in the USA it's the identical car but missing the paddle shifters and branded as a Toyota Yaris (with little Mazda labels everywhere except on the front and back of the car)

Writing my review of the Mazda 2 after completing the Mae Hong Son loop in North Thailand last week.
It was after watching this review here that I decided to pick the M2 to go one step further by "abusing" it the way Mr Khong would - and relish exactly what Mr Khong is doing here in this clip but on a more extreme drive than the Genting hill climb!
Scaling the steep MHS slopes really punished the gearbox to the extent that on a few occasion, the engine almost overheated.
Averaging 4-5K RPM during those 45 - 60 minutes non stop hillclimb drive, the car was also struggling in a lot of those insane uphill curves even on 1st gear. - it never exceeded 35kmh on the first gear on full throttle, and gear 2 was impossible on many corners. The car could come with a bit more torque on the lowest gears, but I guess that's the limitation of a small engine.
Nevertheless the car survived all 1,800+ corners without rolling sideways and backwards, so all is good.
Fuel consumption was averaging 16km/l in urban, so hitting 500km if you're not a heavy footer like me is definitely achievable.
I'd agree on the Jinba Ittai philosophy on how engaging it was on the crazy mountain roads... and while it is no Civic TypeR or a 4WD, it was definitely great fun for a simple car of this price-range.
Paddle shift, 6 speed gearbox, not CVT, a nice punchy exhaust note when I smash through the mountain curves, fun-to-drive and handsome looking were plus factors... very little conviction needed to pick this over the other boring Japanese B-segment for an adventure.

If you rent Mazda2 in Thailand, You will get smaller 1.3litre engine , don't have SVT which is more underpowered compare to my mazda2 (1.5litre)
I own mazda2 1.3 in thailand and I rent mazda2 in Malaysia then took it to penang & genting. I can tell that it have better low end torque and better punch above 4,000rpm which Dual S-VT kicked in. The 1.5 variant feel more playful and zoom zoom.

Still loving my mazda2 hatch, only wish the seating position is lower and the steering could go lower. Engine notes sounds the best, not cvt, good handling, even the prefacelift 2016 still looks good, it certainly aged very well. If only bermaz gives us better specs. Aiming for mazda3 !

I still keep my persona elegance for this reason rear multilink suspension but people who say proton is good this and that clearly havnt tried or owned better cars. After owning different cars I won’t even consider Proton anymore due to its quality. His handling may not be as good but the quality is much better than a Proton or local car.
