as a 33 old man i can say that the ghost in the shell was my childhood anime and it permanently engraved itself in my past . ill never forget it even when illbe dying this is going to roll through all memories thats sure. this soundrack is beautiful. thanks God that You gave us ears for listening beautiful sounds
I’m 33 and I watched it only few days ago. Through my life, few films have left me in such spiritual state. This strange feeling of wanting to be united with something higher and eternal, or like 2501 said: “it’s time to become a part of all things.”
As an anime that takes place during 2030, I must say we are living in Ghost In The Shell. This isn't just an anime, it's our world, right now, in the net.
The Cyberpunk Genre is one that's best viewed in concept as to how that world would be if we lived in it in a sense that "The Singularity" doesn't end up killing or enslaving us when it comes to A.I. To each their own being that Bladerunner, The Matrix, Appleseed, Cyberpunk 2020, and 2077, and other works are brilliant my top pick will always be Ghost In The Shell. It's not the originator but Ghost in The Shell feels like the most complete Cyberpunk world in my opinion. The thing that brings it above other works for me are the Tachikomas. They may be A.I. but their personalities give meaning to the title of the world that is A Ghost in the shell. Truly illustrating the human Virtues and Curiosity despite being able to search for information on the web they actually seek to put it to the test and draw their own conclusion on things. We can all just read something and believe it but putting it to the test yields a better understanding of things as all information can be false so one would have to live in order to confirm what is and what isn't legit. Don't know if the future of A.I. will be like the cute Tachikomas as I really think that it's the best approach to an intellect that'll be beyond our own in terms of being able to connect and be everywhere, all knowing, and all powerful if that really ends up being the case. Until then we'll just have to wait and see what kind of Ghost comes out of that shell.

I think that might be why No Man's Sky has gained so much more popularity is because it is a near alternative, just minus the urban feel.
I just want to say Paul Nasca is a great guy. The fucking sea of ambient that was created with paulstretch is a cultural artifact of it's own. Great track btw.

Don't know why this film was so hated as all anime films that thrive will either be big budget productions or Hollywood. Also, I think Scarlet J did a good job, despite being more like the 2004 "Stand Alone" incarnation of Major Kusanagi. It was a good movie and again, a spinoff from the manga.
