Played this a my brother's wedding over 60 years ago! it created quite a few smiles. unfortunately they have now both passed away. But the memories are there, it still makes me laugh
Contagious giggling. Will do on a party, putting on this record without announcing what's going to happen. And then...look at the various reactions of the others.Highly amusing!
Went to a Philippino Wedding last Saturday. My wife sang the original to the happy couple, but I had this on the brain and was the only one grinning like an idiot!
Ha-haa! I never realised this was a silly version of a serious song (although given it's Spike Jones, I SHOULD have). But having researched it, I see the straight version was a big Fifties hit for Patti Page among others - and a bi-lingual straight version by popular Filipino vocalist (and politician) Victor Wood, was a hit in the Philippines in the Seventies. But not knowing that, I too would have been desperately trying not to laugh!
My son got married a few years ago and got the DJ to play this clip. Dont know who got the most laughs, the DJ or the guests. An evening he wont forget for the rest of his life
It's perfectly timed, sound effects, laughter, & all. Yet, w/ all that Spike sure made it look simple and easy... Now, if I could only find a recording of some other group singing "Annie's got a Fella"!
To be honest I listened to this many many years ago..my uncle had made a gramaphone, it looked like a coffin, huge, played this and several others records, like "Sparky and his magic piano" I was a kid and loved it..
I had this played at my sons wedding two years ago. He didnt see the funny side , but the folks at the reception were doubled up in fits of laughter. For some reason he wont talk to me - I wonder why ????
They finally got rid of her. Loved it when it came out in the fifties. Started singing it in the shower this AM and thought I would see if it is on You Tube.
@meltonfamilyx2m I'm doing the maths... Your Dad must have been around forty at the time of this - so he would have liked Art Deco music. No wonder he had a meltdown! To him, it would have been like Punk was, for ME!
I defy anyone to not laugh at this 😂gem of a song 😂!!!!!

Why couldn't they have played that at Prince Harry's wedding? I would love to see the Queen in hysterics
Is this Spike, or one of his City Slickers?
Not sure. It sounds a bit like Sir Frederic Gas but I wouldn't bet money on it.
