Cuberli was a fabulous singer in many ways. I remember my grandmother coming out of Theatre Champs Elysees, where we had given Rossini's Guillaume Tell and Lella had sung the role of Mathilde, saying ' I don't think I will ever hear another human being sing as well as that.' At the cutain call the audience was ecstatic in its applause for her. Someone has mentioned here that she was off pitch on the last note of this Stuarda. That can happen , singers are not machines. They can be slightly tired by the end of a performance or have a bad day. I would say to that what about the thousands of other notes she hit perfectly in her career? An artiste to treasure and a fine person.
I adore her. She was uneven sometimes and her prime didn’t last as long as would have been ideal, maybe. She also wasn’t “flashy” and didn’t have an ace in the hole in relation to other singers. But she was a wonderful musician and an eloquent and stylish interpreter of the repertoire she specialized in. There’s a Donna Del Lago concert from Paris where she and the estimable cast are on blazing form and the audience goes wild.

mio dio.....che meraviglia. sentire donizetti cantato così è solo un piacere. e che dizione...chiara limpida......udibile. non parliamo poi della bellezza della voce. e della tecnica
