    I have no intention of getting into model railroading, but I can't stop watching these videos. Your modeling skills are exceptional.

    The slope of the road looks perfect. All too often, the roads on a layout are kind of an afterthought and hills can end-up being ridiculously steep. The slope here looks like a car could actually drive up it, without sliding down into the drink.😁👍

    Jason, Great video, thank you for sharing.
    You are right about waiting - waiting for glue to dry, waiting for plaster to dry, and then waiting for paint to dry.
    what should be a quick project, wnds up blowing out to days, many days.
    Great advice on doing a bit at a time, my father used to say: "By the inch it's a sinch, by the yard it's hard." Great advice on any project.
    Cheers, and stay safe, Michael

    Great tips along with use of material. Don’t rush drying time as you mentioned.looking forward as you continue onward with foam work along with layout setup.

    I like how that's looking. You're right, I try to grab modeling time in minutes and hours instead of days.

    Hello Jason, you are right, time and patience always give good results, but today's world demands speed and immediacy! Thanks to you, I'm making slow progress in my little port and I've just ordered a few lobster traps and other "trinkets" from Rusty Rail. Thank you again for sharing your videos and happy "1er Mai" !

    Good advise, I try to do at least one thing a day even if its just painting a fire hydrant.

    The setup for this town is just great. I really like the detail of the buildings and the layout. The history looks like it started at the waterfront and expanded outward.

    Small steps also bring you forward. This is true Jason. And the motivation is maintained over a longer period of time thanks to the visible successes. Well done. 👍

    Hi ya Jason. Plans are always subject to change. That’s a given. Another given is waiting for things to dry. I agree with your little at a time Philosophy. Thanks for the update. See ya next time. Take care.

    Good idea to put Decker's on solid ground. I think any kind of modelling is 20% making and 80% waiting for stuff to set or dry! ;-)

    Fantastic Jason, admittedly I've struggled to maintain time on my layout, what with work and having moved into my new house last year I keep finding other none model railway related projects to do that takes up the time. So like yourself I try to do a bit when I can, also I find if your head isn't clear on an area of your layout it's better to take a while to think before committing to half a plan. 👍😁🚂

    Glad I found you. I am really interested in the water-side structures! Exactly what I want to build on my layout! You clearly demonstrate how useful all styrofoam is..a hard sell to some of the old timers!

  • @wilzdart
    @wilzdart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like your placement of the new structure, have found that using a card board push pined on white foam makes better results cutting with a foam table ( like a road incline ) Also like the way you stack your buildings and have started doing that as I continue on with my scenery. Your idea of doing a little at a time, always thought that was the way to go, when you rush you get mush!! anyway looking forward to the next chapter in the build.

    White foam, is that the type that sticks to everything? You will be finding flakes for the next few years. I use the pink type, works great. I use a drywall hand saw to cut it; it produces a rough surface which I like to have sometimes. You are a brave man!

    Please tell me that that you used Liquid Nails for Projects and not standard Liquid Nails. It really looks good!

  • @jamescraft672

    Why don't you use construction foam (pink or green)? It's less messy.

    • @JasonJensenTrains
      @JasonJensenTrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The white is cheaper. I use the colored foam mostly for concrete. The white foam on my layout will all be covered with scenery material. Thanks for watching James!!! 👍

    What is the difference between extruded polystyrene and expanded polystyrene for rail modeling?

    Jason do you ever use gatorboard for your structure bases? I love using this material.

    • @JasonJensenTrains
      @JasonJensenTrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not. I was sent some small sample pieces and it’s super strong stuff. I’ve just never ordered any. Maybe some day. Thanks for watching Brian!!! 👍

    • @bwillia99
      @bwillia99 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are one of the greatest structure builders I have ever seen. You will inherit the legacy of the likes of George Sellios and Michael Tylick! Art Fahie of Bar Mills includes small panels of gatorboard with some of his structure kits. There is no better material for the structure's base - dead flat; super strong and lightweight.

    Why Styrofoam... why not builders' foam sheets? it cuts well and can be sanded, a coat of PVA glue will seal it for painting or other effects. Just thinking!

    • @JasonJensenTrains
      @JasonJensenTrains  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always use what ever I can get cheap or for free. That way I have more money for structure kits. Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it!
