    Sir, if all the particles of cathode rays are negatively charged then they should repel with each other. In this way, due to continuous repulsion they would spread out in all directions instead of one linear line. How can they travel in a straight path? Is it due to the presence of anode on the other side?

    • @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC
      @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cathode rays are emitted from cathode i.e. negative charged electrode when external voltage is applied. When energy is provided to cathode, its atoms present in it ionizes and loses valence electrons, which move towards positive anode terminal indicating that they are negatively charged.

    Respected Sir,
    I have studied that North Pole acts as a negative charge while South Pole as the positive charge. So, when we introduce North Pole of the magnet then the rays will repel away from it or deflect away towards South Pole. And if we will introduce South Pole then the cathode rays will attract or deflect towards the South Pole.
    I need clarification please

    • @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC
      @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cathode rays are deflected towards North Pole , which is caused by intrinsic magnetic field generated by negatively charged electrons.
      This follows Flemings right hand thumb rule. Thanks

    Why does the paddle wheel not form shadow

    • @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC
      @ChemistrybySudhakarAVC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question scarlet
      Actually,Sir WilliamCrook has designed a grill on which a paddle is fixed . The wheel is arranged in such a way that only top portion of paddle wheel is exposed to cathode rays . When cathode rays are allowed to fall on paddle wheel, it hits top portion of wheel & began to rotate as observed. This can happen only when rays have particle nature with specific mass. There was no photographic ZnS screen arranged, the set up is for seeing any movement of wheel occurs. Thanks
