- After an asylum seekers’ camp in northern Paris was cleared last November, France plans to continue to break up others across the country. Although the number of places in shelters has doubled, with over 108,000 beds available for asylum seekers, makeshift camps are still scattered around the capital's ring road, where several thousand people are living in squalid conditions. FRANCE 24’s team reports.

I agree, I came legally to the UK from a poor eastern Europe country 20 years ago. I was young woman with no money, and no English language. I had to manage without any support from the government. Nobody felt any sorry for me even though I was so vulnerable while being a woman in her early 20s. WTF is happening now? I have been working 6 days a week for most of these 20 years. I don't want my taxes going to this.

Many "asylum seekers" are caught in eastern EU countries that are perfectly safe for them. When they are asked why don't they stay, the answer is "we will get more money in Germany".

It's not an overpopulation issue, it's political or economic instability of the countries they fled that is the issue. In some cases that does stem from religious fundamentalism getting control of a country which tends to lead to economic derailment, but definitely not about overpopulation. Most of those countries are corrupt or deprganised in some way.

This has to stop. All young strong men are looking to live in EU as refugees. Another from Iraq has gone to Belarus and live in forests and try to jump into Germany. This one of the reasons I left France, the administrative handling for each of these migrants cost 57000€ per year to the French taxpayers, I'm not paying for that nonsense, and if they ever try to tax French people living abroad (like the US does with Americans) I'll just renounce my citizenship.

La différence réside surtout dans la manière dont sont dépensés les fonds publics, et la facilité d'accès à l'emploi, moins d'assistés au RSA = moins d'impôts sur les travailleurs.

These are not asylum seekers, they are economic migrants. If they were genuine asylum seekers, they would have claimed asylum in the first safe country they entered, and not crossed through 4-5 countries to reach the one they wanted.

I left Paris 6 years ago. No regrets... Very few migrants are deported back. In reality they are put in deportation centers and have to stay there.
