I was at this game behind the goal to the right with my mates who were West Ham fans (I'm an Ipswich supporter|) we were very unlucky not to get anything from this game and that penalty was very soft...
what a great West Ham team, oh for those days again. Stood on the North Bank and it was the loudest i ever heard Upton Park, my ears were ringing all the next day. So good to find this film on here and a proper male commentator in Brian Moore
A great night, I was at the game, full of drama to comeback and win , honestly thought we would the title, we were so close. Great memories and also run onto the pitch from the north bank.
Earlier in the season, Ipswich were 3-up at Oxford but lost 4-3. They were pipped to First Division survival by....Oxford, who finished less than 3 points ahead of them.
Great season for West Ham, very unlucky not to win the league. Always remember the game at Chelsea when they won 4-0. That result must have had Liverpool and Everton looking over their shoulders.
Tottenham had some great results early in the season, beating West Ham, who were great that year. Then second half of the Season, Spurs rolled over for just about everyone. Very frustrating season... Hammers could have won the League that season.
I was in the army in Cambridge and drove down to watch this game! What a night!
I was 12. Spent the entire game hanging from a concrete column in the south bank. Woke up the next morning like I was hugging a beer barrel. ⚒️.
I loved being at this game, all 4 stands were rocking. I was a the the very back middle of the south bank.

John Helm on this game
80/81 & 85/86 my fave WHU seasons
The reason for this fixture congestion was that January/February 1986 was a very cold winter with a lot of postponements

West Ham were great back then. They played football all over the park, even in their own goal mouth.

That's me at 13:33 running in front of the camera!! Still crazy after all these years.

The problem for West Ham was fixture congestion - a week or so after the Stamford Bridge result, Chelsea went to Upton Park and won 2-1.
@@MrJonno85 ye i remember the chels game messed the title charge up for em
@@redflag8970 Chelsea had a chance of the title themselves, but also had too many games to play in a short period of time.
@@MrJonno85 ye totally
probably my favorite game at upton park

Expert penalty taker vs expert penalty saver.

No, it’s John Helm. He’s never worked for Sky.
Not sure about that penalty 😂
Every live Premier League match should open with a shot of some dyed-in-the-wool home fans swaying and singing the club song.
