I'm a bit over people mentioning him missing chances in this game. He slipped for the penalty and most other chances were saved very well. Perhaps the one saved off the line should have been banged in but let's give him some credit. He scored and is consistently scoring at the moment.

It's annoying for me too. It's too much focus on this trait as a negative when in fact.. the keeper saves his attempts and players do too, he is in those positions CONSTANTLY and every striker misses chances. The disrespect is unfair..
It was one of Ollie's best games in a Villa shirt, genuinely. His work rate was fucking unbelievable and he ran Trusty ragged.
It's the very reason he's only good and not great tho
Let's not forget the incredible number of selfless assists, often laying it on a plate for Rogers or whoever rather than trying to grab the glory for himself.

Thanks for the show Pete, great content as always. Regarding Jhon Duran, after his heroics in the first weeks of the season, I was convinced I was looking at
the emergence of a once-in-a-generation size talent, someone who could take Villa right to the very top. His attitude and his temperament had question marks over them, but his talent had an exclamation mark. I felt confident that Emery's exceptional man-management skills could iron out any creases in this player
and bring out the best in him for the greater benefit of the team and the club. There was always the looming possibility that one of the giants of the European game might come in for him, Real Madrid or PSG, but Duran's potential, wherever he played was undeniable. Those few phenomenal goals were not flukes.
I have to say it is a sad indictment on how badly money has affected sport that he has now opted to go to Saudi Arabia and sell that massive talent for
a bagful of gold. He could have gone to the very pinnacle of European football yet he will now ply his trade in front of tiny, mostly indifferent, crowds in a cynical sportwashing sideshow in the desert. Very sad.
Did the ref even give a yellow? Great job from him. As for Bailey. I am really really happy how hes getting better. Ive been seeing so much improvement from him in terms of fitness and speed but crucially acceleration. I say support him.

That can’t be the only thing you talk about Bailey for he created a boat load of chances if not for Watkins or Rodger’s he would have to assist and on my count he won back possession around 3 you 5 time so if he misses the ball once you’re gonna just highlight that

Morgan’s third was almost a victim of the Watkins penalty spot mud patch, very poor from the usually brilliant groundsmen. Ollie however should be over 20 goals this season easily, he needs to become clinical quickly now as we go into the tough part with a new team.
Just remember 2023 we sell Danny Ings and Ollie goes on to score like 35 G/A. Hope the Duran situation is similar.
@ Are you suggesting Watkins doesn’t do well with competition? I think lack of proper pre-season has more to do with it. However the chances he’s missed are more through lack of accuracy than anything, basically since that England goal in semi which was proclaimed as clinical he’s been …. Not clinical. Could be in his head but he’s scored then gone on to do the same next game, that’s unusual.
@maplin007 No idea what causes it but we've changed our attack in 3 consecutive Januarys and he's always seemed to kick on around about now

Not unhappy with the Duran move. He helped us with some really important goals. He gets a massive pay raise while we get some cash. Not sure what it means for his international place and future. Just looking forward to seeing ho we use the money
No point in keeping an unhappy player who wants to leave. He will regret going to the Saudi league.

Excellent as usual. Have to say, a bit harsh on Bailey (though not by much). Had his best game and created a bucketload of chances. Another night and he'd have had 4 or 5 assists
Came to say this exact thing. Also no criticism on McGinn’s involvement on that goal. If he doesn’t slide in there that goal doesn’t score.

A fantastic achievement, in the end. Selling Duran is the right decision. Talented? Yes. Match winner? Yes. Temperamental youngster who could be a disruptive influence behind the scenes? Most definitely Yes. Sorry to see him go? Absolutely.

Too hard on Ollie, Pete. He was well set up for that penalty. None of those stop/start uncertain run ups, just a straightforward pop to come and then...too much water on the pitch and a soft spot just where his heel lands. Not his fault AT ALL, unless you expect a penalty takeer to get down on one knee and prod the turf like a golfer checking out his lie? One day soon, all those chances he is letting slip will come together in a glorious burst and he will lay waste to whoever we are plundering at the time. May it be whover we are seeking to push out of the top four.
Disagree. His performance was very good. Workrate, channel running, link up all phenominal ..goal & assist, but he missed 3 big chances and also a penalty. At the very least he has to bury that chance McGinn laid on for him to make it 4-2. Blaming the surface for his penalty is some serious mental gymnastics. I love OW but his missed big chances this year have cost us points this season. It's more an issue than ever as our defence is leaking goals like a bottom 6 team. Here's hoping you are right though and he goes on an incredible run this second half of season
Watkins might not be the most clinical of skrikers, but he's by no means a vad goalscorer. Yes, he's missing some good chances from time to time, but he's overall play is fantastic and it helps the team massively
Spot on. His all round play Wednesday was incredible. I love OW, but can also admit he is missing too many big chances this season. He should have had 4 goals v Celtic. Hopefully his return goes up rest of season and he shoots us into top 5 🔥
Sometimes I get a flash into the future, I get them all the time, eg The 9/11 attacks, The 7/7 attacks, and on that wednesday, I had a flash which took just a few seconds, it was about an hour before kick off against Celtic, the scores went before my eyes, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2. That exactly happend at the game, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2. Problem is, I never bet, I never go into the bookies. I wished I did then.

Leon Bailey's half attempted interception wasn't even the worst part about the play that led to the goal, he then just stood their and watched the overlapping player breeze past him and leon never tracked him. Bailey has been poor for a while. My opinion is he needs to move on in the summer and we need to a world class winger

If Ollie is up for it, and Arsenal are willing to pay top dollar, it's a big big call, especially as Duran is leaving and we're in the business end of the season. But I'd accept Arsenal's offer if it was around £60M.
Ollie is a good pro with a brilliant fitness record, but has been awful most of the season and even at his best is wasteful in front of goal. Could Malen play striker, could Felix?
