I had one of these - a '69 - with the Solex carbs. Stock it put out 150 hp at 5500 rpm. I had it balanced and blue-printed, ported and polished and put a 3/4 race cam in it. It put out 196 hp at 6,000 - the car weighed 2100 lbs with me in it.
I had one of these same year '69' 2000 with the solex side drafts, a buddy and I spent one summer rebuilding the motor and they were fast with the 5 speed overdrive.. I could get 90 mph at 6000 rpm in 3rd, did that a lot, :).
