  • Excuse my tardiness, but I thought that you would probably enjoy something from a very iconic operator...
Anyway, for the longest time, I was sure this was going to be a Scania K310UB review, but after a long look at the fleet lists, and a bunch of blinking/ rubbing my eyes, I stand corrected. Turns out, a few of the later build Scania K280UB's also had this style of air-con unit, and I very nearly got it wrong! According to the fleet lists, much to my surprise, 2764 ST, was not in fact, a K310UB like I initially thought, until half way through writing the voiceover script...
Anyway, enjoy! This was filmed in December 2021, when State Transit was still the operator for much of Sydney's Eastern suburbs. Today, this bus is now operating for Transdev John Holland Buses.

And for referece, here's the fleet list that made sure I wasn't going to get this wrong...

Haha I was confused as well, the K280UBs in the 27XXs have the Coachair ACU. A sure way to identify is that the K310UBs have AdBlue tanks and are numbered 2785 and above.
It is quite unfortunate that these have ZF EcoLife gearboxes... I have heard rumours that 2250 is the only Scania VST ex-STA with an Ecomat but I still do not know if that is true.
Have you had any luck trying to get a Custom Denning Element? Busways Western Sydney actually has 11 operating around Penrith, and unlike Transdev John Holland normally send one or two out on the weekends, so Penrith is a good place to try your luck.

That makes a bit more sense! I generally don't get to walk round the outside of buses slowly though, I'm usually more than likely walking quickly to make a connection, so wouldn't pick up on that.
On the Element, watch this space... let's just say I was a man on a mission, that went successfully.

a notable feature on the vsts is the little hiss that it makes when the bus is coming to a stop

hey man just thought id let u know heaps has changed with buses in bundy since you were last here.
Duffys city buses first turned into just duffys buses and had a logo change that was really it but then around september or earlier kinetic bought duffys so all the stickers saying duffys buses have been taken off.
Just recently kinetic bundaberg has also required a new bus(new for bundaberg services) i believe the bus was from sky bus for a airport service because it is red and has luggage racks inside it also i belive it is the same as the MAN 18.10 that you did not do a video on when u were in bundy. but wierdly enougth it has not been updated on australian bus fleet list neither has kinetic bundaberg has been updated. One last thing is that there has been a new bus station built at sugarland plaza and buses now leave from there instead of the carpark

Sounds like lots of changes in the Sugarcane Champagne capital! Kinetic is busy making moves when it comes to acquiring new operators and growing its presence.

Keolis downer hunter ones are B8RLE's & have same vst body as this.

Yep, same basic body style. Different air-conditioning units and a few subtle differences though, so you might enjoy this review: th-cam.com/video/dGTAY_Dsqqw/w-d-xo.html

Ye, but they've now got new batches of the VST on B8RLE chassis' which aren't in STA spec, meaning its got bonded windows (square windows), different seat textures, different interior colours, the poles are chrome or whatever, and the VST is now completely low floor, meaning theres no step up or dont to the front seats or to the rear door with fleet numbers 2828-2833 and with 2834 still awaiting delivery. And Just recently we just received our first Bustech ZDi (bus 2900) marking a new change to public transport.

Thankfully BCC / TfB had the sense NOT to source / purchase any Bustech built buses to their fleet.

Can't say I agree with that one...
A single door configuration with comfortable seats could be quite good for some of the 'rocket' services, and the MDi could be a good fit for some of the low patronage services.
Bustech also now has a version of the VST with a rear door without a step down, and would be keen to see how that works in practice.
