    If you love the music you make, it helps if the people who make your guitar love what they do. You can really hear the difference. Well done Collings !

    Adirondack spruce was also much closer than Sitka for many builders

    Very educational regarding spruce tops. You didn't mention Lutz spruce.

    I have a quick question. Where do buy tonewoods? Do you buy them in big sheets them mill them down? So overall just wondering where I can buy tonewoods thanks.

    The Collings is sharper, the Martin more bass but a bit muddy. The truth of the matter is that no two instruments, same make, same model, sound the same. Every instrument is unique so you have to try several before you choose. I have a Martin D42 and a Collings Baby 2H. I love them both.

      @el34glo59 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I kinda like Addy on all Martins and Sitka on Collings. But it depends on the individual piece of wood and guitar too

    The highly regarded "Smoky Mt" top wood has a very thin grain pattern.

    • @el34glo59
      @el34glo59 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true. And ironically, not the stiffest Addy. Some of it wasn't that stiff but still sounds amazing

  • @toneman335
    @toneman335 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Generally what gives the best tone...a thin grain top or a wide grain top?

    • @el34glo59
      @el34glo59 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither. Like he said, all depends on the piece of wood. It's a myth that thinner grain so stiffer. Etc. In fact a lot fi wider stuff is the stiffest. Can't tell by looking tho. Really depends on the piece of wood.
      Some people like the look of tight. Some like wide. Some like some of color and different grain widths, like me. Etc

    Adirondack is the king of Spruce! Collings makes the best steel string acoustic and electric guitars in the world.

      Not for fingerstyle. In that case, it's rocky mountains engelmann or italian all the way.

    • @el34glo59
      @el34glo59 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@athanasiusdicia117 Idk about that man. Depends on the piece of wood honestly. Every piece of wood is different. I've heard beautiful dreads with Addy for finger picking.
      Englemann is definitely great for finger style though
