Finally remembered that Sam's buddy in this movie is played by the same actor (Elisha Cook Jr) who was Wilmer in The Maltese Falcon. Looking him up, he had quite the career over the decades.
@20:35: My earliest memory of Jack Black was when I saw him in The Jackal when it was in theaters. Ahh..I still remember fondly, him holding out that pack of cigarettes, as Bruce Wilis shouted down range to stand a bit closer to the car before completely blowing him to bits with his custom 50 cal gatling gun, lol! 😂 it just gets better with time...😅
From the first moment I understood why the people in this movie like Sam. Not only is he HOT, but his mystery compounded with that kind of menacing intense possessive nature is something a lot of women in abusive relationships fall for, and the threatening paranoid energy keeps them from leaving or getting help. Also was I the only one who thought the curse that Helen "carries inside her" is old timey code for a pregnancy/abortion?

Another Chris Guest improved film with a great soundtrack full of original songs is A Mighty Wind. I have never cared about folk music in the slightest but almost every song in the film lives rent free in my head! “Ea a oe’s!?” Wha happened?!😂
ANOTHER dead Laura Palmer!?! Note to all the Laura Palmers out there: change your your goddamn names ASAP!! They comin’ for ya Laurie! They comin’! Lol
Did anyone else pick up on the abundance of queer undertones in this? It was funny to joke about but it felt like there was SO much unspoken tension in multiple bedroom scenes between same sex characters? I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a pre code version of this screenplay at some point?
I LOVE this show AND Matt, but the Wizard of Oz is MAGNIFICENT!!! I consider it the most "perfect" film I've ever seen.... Not my "favorite" but the "most perfect". It is, basically, flawless. Matt's reevaluation is misguided... By A LOT!!!
I wouldn't say Steve Martin invented the idiot manchild character archetype but he definitely perfected it. Laurel & Hardy. Abbot & Costello. The Three Stooges. Jerry Lewis.
Sorry Matt, but I have to disagree. I think Dumb and dumber, step brothers, etc., would still exist without the Jerk, because before Steve Martin did it, there was the Three Stooges, Laurel and Harty, etc. You rooted for those guys, and there were pretty dumb. Love the show. Thx.
I agree with Matt's take on the Wizard of Oz. Of course I'd seen it probably a hundred times during my childood, but when I rewatched it as an adult, I realized that the script was awful and the characters were shallow and mostly uninteresting. It's just an eye-candy spectacle that we all love because we grew up with it. I guess it also doesn't help knowing about all the human rights violations that went on during the production of the film.
I fail to see why another country is this movie is titled either Lady of Deceit or She's Deadlier than the Male when THE MAN WAS DOING ALL THE DECEIVING AND KILLING. I suppose this was just made in the time where women were looked down on in all societies and we couldn't have people thinking that men could be terrible. 🤷🏿♂️
Matt have u ever seen a single Jerry Lewis movie? The OG master of morons? Although I dig Dillons Andy Dick like irreverence he kinda phoned it in. if I saw this movie 1st i would never watch another?
Is Dylan just becoming Ned Flanders?
Also it's so great seeing him back on the channel, we demand Dylan on B&BG!
Dylan - A real life Flanderization
@@HarukoJisan You say Flanders I say Spin City Alan Ruck.
Stupid sexy Dylan…
"If this was the first movie I ever saw, I wouldn't watch another one." I laughed for a long time at that one. Thanks, Dylan!
"So she hires a hungry german" might be the best comment of the year 😂
12:59 Matt's impression of Esther Howard made me genuinely LOL
Always a pleasure watching you two chill and watch a movie.

Either Augra from dark krystal or a living portrait of the name "sloppy duchess".
Land of the Lost, Bloom County, Dark Crystal, _and_ Twin Peaks jokes?! Simply outstanding. 🍸🧐

Spaaaallllll!!
When it comes to smells Dylan is wells!
Lawrence Tierney was clearly trying to fit some Bogart-type at this stage in his career.
with some Alan Ladd
@@seanhenry2921 in one bed?
fantastic as always
Good flick, hilarious episode!
The big bed boom happened in the 60's, when people started living and stopped having a baseball teams worth of kids.

Was that a Sleestak joke? I loved Land of the Lost growing up! Oh shit does that make me old?
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.

Esther Howard (Mrs. Kraft) was adept at playing this type of role. She virtually played the same character in the earlier Murder My Sweet (1944).
One of the nastiest movies of the 40s noir cycle.
1:26 aka the clock king guy from the 1966 tv series batman
I have seen Dillian since that one time he got mad in beer and board games and he went home.
5:26 that's the guy from House On Haunted Hill
Non-manic Brogan is paradoxically kinda disconcerting.
😵💫🤣
Sorry what was Matt referencing at 2:51?
Sleestaks from Land of the Lost.
@@Blue_Tanuki Walter Slezak was in land of the lost?

Seen it! Toy Story 2, I think my favourite film from the series
I'd like to hear Dylan's review of any Raymond Chandler book
Walter Sleestak?
Dylan’s mustache is larger then his forehead
Gah DAMN that is a strong 'stache!
Yay, an Elisha Cook Jr. performance! Hopefully everything goes alright for his character!
Awwww, not another betrayal by those his character held close!
oh, I know 😅
Also it's strange to not hear sloppy kissing noises. Love seeing Matt & Dylan hanging out
The little guy is Elisha Cook Jr. He's kinda the best character actor ever
Hmmm….. I do believe somebody snuck out a fart at 23:12.
Seen it ! The Man who fell to Earth starring David Bowie
Pretty sure Foster Brooks would have told the woman playing the drunk to rein it in.
I know.

Hophead? Mrs Kraft is a hophead?

Don't act like you two don't understand the concept of the mysterious bad boy, they like him because he is dangerous 🙄
Jerry Lewis might've been the first man-child hero.
5:52 the UHC shooter took Dylan’s advice lol
Jerry Lewis did characters like the Jerk all the time in the 50s.

Dylan, long time no see. And he behaved!
Good thing this didn't take time out of his busy Trump rally.
In the "Wizard of Oz" poster, why does the cowardly lion look like a brussels sprout with lipstick?
