- Seth Meyers sits down with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb to talk about the release of his first children’s book, “I’m Not Scared, You’re Scared.” Meyers opens up about his own anxieties surrounding parenting and shares how he approaches situations when his children are afraid. “I think it’s wrong to tell your kids don’t be afraid of anything, and it’s also wrong to tell them to be afraid of everything. This book is about finding the middle,” he says.

I don’t generally watch Today, but I appreciate that they matched the set to Seth’s eyes. I had presumed that he would eventually take over the Tonight Show, but I think he should take over the Today Show. Day drinking would be epic. Wally could have an hour long segment. Lorne needs to take over daytime programming before he retires.

What is this joke about hoda not paying for books?
She is used to getting free stuff. They all are. No one would ever ask for payment, especially like that, so he knew it would catch her by surprise.
It was a playful two part joke 1) he's pretending she isn't going to pay him for a (clearly) free gift that he'd traditionally give the host as a promotion and 2) a self deprecating joke about himself pretending he's too cheap to give his book away as a gift. Neither are true so it was pretty funny because the host was getting razzed so she was laughing pretty hard. Probably not used to a playful guest and that kind of banter.
