They have many styles. A very eclectic band.

Have seen him in the flesh do that long note live many a time. One of the best vocalists of all time. 5 octave range

Thankyou for reacting to the best band ever A-HA I have been a fan of theirs for almost 40 years and they are still going today and are all in their early 60’s. The last album was called true north and it was released last October 2022. A-HA are criminally unappreciated and underrated as a band. They are a trio of men from Oslo, Norway who can play numerous instruments and write their own songs. They are amazing as a live band and have a huge back catalogue. This song Summer Moved On has the longest note in in and got into the guinness book of records twice for the longest note held on a live performance and a song that charted also Morten the lead singer has since broken his own record many times. I hope you’ll continue your journey into A-HA’s music catalogue if you do you’ll find that no two A-HA songs sound the same A-HA are constantly evolving as a band. Thanks again for reacting to A-HA. Take care 😘❤️🇳🇴❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A-HA FOREVER ❤️🇳🇴❤️

They pretty much abandoned the USA in the early 80’s to focus on the rest of the world, they have done rock albums and many different sounds

Thank you for reacting to a-ha, an amazing band. Did you notice the long note?
The song reached top 10 in 5 European countries, including Germany with at number 8. For some reason, the band was forced to bet on either Europe or the US, and they naturally chose Europe. They say in interviews that they didn't have enough time to put in as much time as they were required to do in the US to get another hit there. After Take on me, the follow up, The sun always shines on TV reached 20. at the US Billboard. It also reached 6. at US Dance Club Songs and 5. at US Dance Singles Sales. It reached top 10 in 14 Countries, including 1. in UK and Ireland, as well as 11. in Canada. That should be your next song to react to.
A-ha has had several hits all over the world, except from in North America. They are the only artist from outside UK and USA that have had the honor to make a Bond theme song, The living Daylights, 1987.
In 1991 they set at world record for paying audiences in Rock in Rio with 198 000. That was more than three times of the other artists that year.
Journalists from the American entertainment press called their respective newsrooms and said they simply had to give attention a-ha, but everyone was told no. They were not allowed to give the band any attention. For that reason, it is easy to draw the conclusion that the American media is the reason why a-ha never became big in the USA. They have held concerts for their fans in the USA in 1986, 2005, 2010 and most recently in 2022. Otherwise, they have mostly toured in Europe, South America and Japan.
I will recommend you to react to these songs. I will add live versions of most of the songs. It might prevent you from being blocked. A-ha is a great live band.

What a great song and that note !!!! I hope you do more a-ha. So many to choose from. I'd say the two songs East of the Sun and Sycamore Leaves are a great place to start.

You were sitting so impassive and expressionless during that looooooong note that I bet you thought (like I did when I first listened to it) it was a studio trick, prolonguing his note to an unreal and unbelievable length. 😅 But it is real, he has a Guiness record for that. 😉 And he has done it countless times live, I have witnessed it a few times myself.
If you want suggestions of songs with official videoclips, the obvious ones in the 80s will be The Sun Always Shines On TV, Hunting High and Low, Train Of Thought, I've Been Losing You, Manhattan Skyline, Stay on These Roads, The Blood That Moves The Body, The Living Daylights... But the 90s are my favourite a-ha era, check out I Call Your Name, Angel, Dark is The Night, Move to Memphis... And I am stopping here, they have a 40-year career with countless amazing songs. True North, the latest album, was released last October (2022), and if you are curious about how they sound NOW you will find the latest videoclips on the official youtube channel. 😉

By the way, to avoid blocking it might be an idea to react to live versions, they usually don't get blocked. I will go in and suggest live versions in my previous comment, and add a couple of good live performances.

Yes that is true. But sometimes when hearing a song for the first time it's best to hear the studio track. But not always. I guess it depends on the song. Sometimes the live version is the only way to go.

@@groovyreacts I see what you mean. There also are some studio recordings where the band is lip syncing. It can be an alternative to avoid getting blocked. And by the way, the NRK live versions from 1991 are in some cases better than the studio versions in my opinion. They are definitely the best live versions, even if the band is an amazing live band.

@@groovyreacts i do that too. Studio first.
That said, kari is right there are some really good live versions that are as good if not better than the original.
