It's in my opinion that the drums on this EP are the most difficult drums of any post-hardcore record. Beau burchell hired a professional studio drummer for the recording and it shows.

@@SallyDrumz give "they perched on their stilts" off that ep a try. The hi-hat and ride play is like something you would have heard Richard Christy do on a Death album. I can't even being to try and play it.
yeah Pat Magrath's drumming on this EP is so iconic to me. I am thinking hard of awesome post-hardcore drumming and I can really only think of Sara Lund's drumming from the band Unwound coming close to being as epic as this EP's drumming in 'cool' factor in the post-hardcore genre. Unwound's last album is a masterpiece and her drumming on every album is pretty awesome. I would also say Cobra's drumming from the first couple of The Appleseed Cast albums as being extremely awesome even if they aren't technically post-hardcore ("Steps and Numbers," "On Reflection," "Rooms and Gardens.") Pete de Freitas to me is still imo the most underrated drummer in the non-metal genre other than Jimmy Chamberlin. I also love Abe Cunningham's drumming.
Yep, I don't listen to lyrics or understand people that care about that shit which is why I never understood really cared for much of anything but derivatives of rock. Harmonies and drums that are very technical are what I care for. I've played drums for 25 years and used to play this in high school and college and later in my garage among other technical songs that are pretty obscure.
@@Dr.FeelsGoodThat’s cool that you listen to music that way, I love lyrics but I think you helped explain to myself why I like derivatives of rock. I grew up in a classic rock household so I was shamed for a while for listening to this kind of shit 😂
