I LOVED watching this walk. I am still homesick after 55 years in New Orleans. My mom was too. I have a cousin in Saltburn and many in Whitby. Hope to do this hike someday.😊❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to do the Cleveland Way one day, and Whitby would be visited, it’s such a cool place. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers, Nigel
Well done to you and your daughter! What an rewarding and satisfying thing to do. I might get off my backside and do it myself some day. Thanks for going to the effort of producing these vids. I love them! All the best.
We loved our stay at Intake Farm. Judith Ventress fed us a wonderful home cooked meal in her beautiful dining room. Next morning, several cows were on the trail we were to leave on. Marie, a Danish gal who also stayed that night was going this section feared the cows. Judith assured us the cow were more afraid of us than we were of them. She did however walk a short pace with us shooing the cattle away. Marie was quite relieved.
Did the C2C over 11 days in 2019. Not my favourite of long distance walks, but still it was nice to reminisce by watching your 3-part video journey, Nigel. Keep them coming, as I'll have to be content with living vicariously through you regarding U.K. long distance walks from now on.
@@AmblingTrails Okay, Nigel, you asked for it! LOL. Favourites of mine that I don't think you have done would include: Lady Anne's Way (mentioned to you recently), the South West Coastal Path, Pennine Way, Ridgeway, West Highland Way, and Cleveland Way. Other trails I had originally planned for this year's trip (that was cancelled) that I don't think you have done are: Hadrian's Wall, Swale Way, Ebor Way, Yoredale Way, Peddar's Way, Norfolk Coast, Angles Way, Yorkshire Wolds Way, Six Dales Trail, Nidderdale Way, Teesdale Way, Tabular Hills, and the Inn Way to the Yorkshire Dales. I'd also like to see videos of: Pennine Bridleway, Suffolk Coast, Ickneild Way, Great Stones Way, Wild Edric's Way, the North Downs Ways, the complete Wye Valley walk (I've done about 1/3), Glyndwr's Way, Wyche Way, Winchcombe Way, the Peak District Boundary Walk, St Oswald's Way, and the Wales Coast path (I realise you have done the Pembrokeshire portion of this). Hopefully something in that (non exhaustive) list inspires you :)
So glad I asked lol! What a coincidence, or I do listen, got back from Lady Ann’s Way yesterday. Also, that was competing with Cleveland Way as next on my list but I thought need to leave a little time as some similarities to C2C, but I will do it at some point. Ridgeway is down for next year, as some friends want to do this with me. Enjoying the Dales at the moment so some of the others you mention will certainly pop up at some point. Enjoyed reading your list as there are some I’ve not seen before, and I do enjoy the research and planning. So many trails to explore… never enough time! Again, thanks for the list you’ve inspired me to do more 🥾🥾
I hope that you enjoyed Lady Anne's Way and the diversity of trail/scenery. I would have done it for the third time next month had my holiday plans gone ahead this year. As for the Cleveland Way, there are only 2 sections that overlap with the C2C, one of which is the relatively short coastal section just before Robin Hood's Bay (the other being the 1/2 day section out of Osmotherley), so I don't find them that similar hardly at all.
Many thanks for the videos - really enjoyed reliving the crossing. This was my 2nd trail which I did in Sep 22 (Hadrian's Wall 2021). This year was The Dales Highway and next year I think I might do a E-W Coast to Coast so I can then walk home to Whitehaven from St Bees at the end. Also planning a Dales Way walk but going to go off trail to Horton in Ribblesdale and then do Pen-Y-Gent, Ingleborough and Whernside en route to Dent.
Glad you enjoyed them Richard. Did the Dales High Way at the beginning of the year and the Dales Way later on in this year. Possibly more videos for you to watch there. Certainly think the Dales Way will be enhanced with what you are planning. Not done Hadrians Wall yet (on video) but have been recently reading Wainwrights Pennine Journey, given the hikes you’ve done I think you would enjoy that book/walk as well. Thanks for sharing your plans and past experiences I always find it fascinating what other hikers are doing/done. Cheers, Nigel
Congratulations on completing this epic trail. While the lake District section is my favorite of the three National Parks, the section from Ingleby Cross to theLion Inn at Blakey Ridge is perhaps my favorite day of the whole trail. Fantastic .
Thanks! Unfortunately, I did not see much of your favourite section, as had my head down against the elements. However, there are parts I do want to revisit, so given what you say, sounds like this needs to be on my list. Thanks for watching the series. Nigel
Lovely people at Church Holme campsite, completed my coast to Coast in 30° of heat in June, needless to say I was suffering badly when I got here, they hooked me up with a fitted sheet for my insulated sleeping mat and I got the best night sleep on the whole of the Coast to Coast here.
As I'm sure you saw from the video, I was strugglingly with the complete opposite, being the wettest July in years. Whilst I was lucky and did not have problems with my feet many did suffer greatly from continues wet feet. However, some international hikers had said to me, how kind and friendly everybody they had met, and so many had been helped out in different to combat the weather. Thanks for sharing your story and hope you get chance to enjoy some more virtual hikes on the channel. Cheers, Nigel
Really enjoying your journey, I did the walk in 2016, didn’t have one of those brilliant Atom packs then, had one on the west highland way though, now the trail is to become a national trial I wonder if many of the helpful signs put up by locals will disappear 🤔
Saved! I love clouded days! ❤
Ha, I like them mixed with a few sunny days as well, thanks for watching 👍🏼
Brilliant ! Well done .
Thanks, I appreciate that!

That is awesome! Love the story and not surprised Judith was brilliant and could not do enough to make us very welcome. Thanks for sharing. Nigel
Well done, I did it last year and loved it. Watching this brought back good memory's.
Thanks James, totally agree it’s a great trail and certainly one of my favourites this year. Cheers, Nigel

Well done to the both of you. Good to see a few different views from your perspective.
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate the comment, cheers Nigel and Victoria

Thanks for the comment. Hope the local signs that give the trail local character stay in place. Cheers
