Love watching and I think you are smashing it with your videos.......great editing!!.......A place on the saltwater will be more beneficial for getting access to food in my opinion........something to consider...........Ok......what I have learn when looking for a homestead. Don't buy raw land.......the cost to getting it useable is way higher than you think or estimate........fact: in order to get a power service on your property you must have an approved septic system which is approximately $20k........yup NL Light and Power is hindged on your septic system here in NL..........therefore, to save a pile of money, look for an older rundown property that has been there for a long time and has a power service already.......bingo........$20K+ savings off the bat........Having grid power at the beginning will be key to setting things up the way you want it and then transition to off grid at your own pace.......keep it up and good luck.......check out our channel as well......

Thank you! Very helpful, now I understand why people always add ‘septic plan already approved’ to postings! That’s a great point to consider.
I’ll check out your channel too 😊
      Thanks!!

I’ve learned to deal with whatever weather we get here lol
I do miss the sun though during some drawn out Rdf periods!

lol, you and I have almost the same idea when it comes to livestock. Except I am starting with chickens and rabbits as I have prior experience with those from when my parents raised them during my teen years. The rabbits were for meat and fertilizer, although my parents did sell some of the offspring as pets to those interested.
Each of my siblings and I were allowed to have a pet rabbit that was our responsibility, but their offspring were fair game.

lol! I also forgot to mention Bees! I can’t wait to get them as well.
Thats a great way to do it. I’m not sure if the rabbits will be just a pet on ours yet or maybe something like you did.
My daughter has wanted one for a long time. I’ve been promising, as long as she takes on the responsibility to take care of it.

@@OutdoorLifeOnTheRock - it should be fine as long as you make it clear that only one of the rabbits is classified as a pet, any others are ‘food’.
I would also suggest watching a few TH-cam channels geared toward raising ‘meat rabbits’ so you will know what to do, it’s what I did as I wanted to do it properly.
My parents made mistakes when they first started out and lost quite a few litters because we didn’t have the proper set up and everything, things changed for the better as time went by but still….it’s best to do research first so you can get everything set up ‘before’ the livestock arrives.
It’s the same with chickens, granted we got chicks instead of adult chickens, so we had time to build everything….but it wasn’t predator proof. I won’t say we started loosing livestock almost immediately, but it did happen….
So my advice is to attend ‘classes’ by watching homestead TH-cam channels and if possible, visit properties that actually have the animals you are thinking of getting into and see what kind of set up they have and ask questions….lots of questions and take notes.
I haven’t visited any places yet as I am still doing research in what NOT to do, I don’t want to repeat my parents mistakes so. Granted I will probably still make mistakes, but at least I will be going into this with both eyes open and somewhat prepared for it.
I would also google meat rabbit breeders and see if there are any in your province, contact them and see if you can visit. Some may not allow it as they run a ‘closed’ rabbitry, meaning no outsiders are allowed on the property in order to protect their foreign diseases and so on as well as theft but they may be willing to meet up off their property to talk and show off a few of their rabbits.
