This game was brutal, sometimes unfairly so, but it was a lot of fun. This and the Master System version were pretty great games.
Agreed. It was one of those games that was playable and fair enough, but you had to master its quirks. Like the I Just Can't Wait To Be King and Stampede levels.
This game haunted my childhood and turned me into the bitter woman I am today. I could never get past stage 2. Fucking ostriches...
It took me a while to pass that level.

Sorry but i think the snes versions sounds much much better.
@Chicken Nugget The major sound differences I found is that the SNES version has some lyrics in the intro sound and that young Simba's roar sounds like a house cat.

In the pc version, the trunks used to climb up and down to the waterfall level are lined with foliage.

Sure, the Super Nintendo rendition is great due to it sounding very accurate to the movie. But Matt Furniss provides us with crystal clear percussion and an even faster tempo that I think captures this emotional scene from the movie a lot better than on SNES.

I use to play this game every day in my childhood, it was my favorite game out of all the games I had, it brings back so many memories

With this game, they did a great job of incorporating scenes from the movie, backgrounds and color.
It’s so nice to watch someone do justice to this game 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I remember all the little hidden parts too, getting every last bug. I spent so many hours on this as a kid but got stuck at the Be Prepared level I don’t think I ever finished it. I was told a cheat (still remember it to this day) so I was able to access the last 2 levels - I loved the final one so much I would just skip straight to that one over and over 💜 the good old days
I got a sega megadrive with this game on Christmas day, it was one of the best days ever
I remember being very amused by the hyenas in this game. When the hyenas die, the corpses look like they’ve been run over with a sixteen wheeler or something....

The first half of the game where you play as young Simba was lot of fun but the second half was just impossible when you played as an adult Simba. I couldn't kill a jack.
The Genesis version has the best music out of all versions of this game. No question about it.
Also, the Genesis version has the pitch change during "Can't Wait to Be King". Not so much in the SNES version.

Controlling Timon is more tough as he runs way fast in Bug Hunt. I end up catching black bugs. Even killing Scar is way difficult. Miss those days.
Looking back, these games were needlessly hard. TLK in particular was supposed a family game, not an arcade port. Good skill, dude !

That's because western developers didn't have sense of what a difficulty curve is versus a difficulty spike. Ruined a lot of western developed game for me, no matter the console.

How do you do the special attack?
I remember playing this as a kid and getting to Scar and not knowing what to do. Just keep licking himself and not doing anything. All has to do was do the special attack at the end. Wish I knew that as a kid.

Really great. The game skipped a lot of important parts (it would be ok even if those was made as simple frames and text), but you did a perfect job as usual :)

For me that was one of the best Disney Classics games. A bit short and nothing compared to Aladdin, but I really loved the last stage.

Same with the Amiga version (watch?v=IFXZ7Iw6eKU), a lot was skipped/not included (read the description), but at least the Amiga version has superior sound/music :)
***** the audio is the only aspect where the Amiga version shines, but other than that the Genesis version is superior in every respects : graphics; animation; gameplay; content. easily the Genesis version (or PC) is the way to go
the SNES version isn't bad, it has great audio, but it ranges lower with its low-resolution; less parallax & its gameplay isn't as good as on Mega Drive / Genesis

Yup, for some reason the Amiga version is branded as a "A1200" version, yet no AGA was used, only 32 colors, bleh. The Amiga COULD have handled the BEST version of them all :)
*****"COULD"? mmh... no. or not inevitably. why so many Amiga games struggle with scrollings? have worse gameplay? run in low(er)-resolution? & / or don't even run in fullscreen? etc etc... + they have more or less loading times
the system is very good for its age but it also comes with its own issues
then, sure, there's also the way games are developped...

There was a combo in this game where you can throw someone (as an adult), but I had no idea how to do it so I was just pressing all buttons and sometimes it worked 😂
It's interesting how this version of the game has the PAL versions of the movie music whereas the SNES version has the original NTSC pitched movie music.
