The large Square crackers are called Saltine CRACKERS They are very popular here in America🇺🇸 we use them a lot So are the Round Ritz CRACKERS They are also used a lot here🇺🇸 the Ritz CRACKERS are my FAVORITE 👍🏻I eat them with TUNA TUNA... (RITZ Crackers) Mayo Onion chopped Celery chopped Salt & Pepper And A slice of Lemon on the side (🍋Salt & Pepper) Yum😋👍🏻🇺🇸
We have been eating pepper jelly but we have to get crackers & cream cheese & then put a small amount on top of the cream cheese & it's amazing & it's not as spicy because the cream cheese fixes that. At Christmas my family just put out a whole block of soft cream cheese & the pours the green pepper jelly on half & red pepper jelly on the other half so it's very Christmasy looking & is gone in a very short time. 😍❤️💚😋👍
Recky, the pink looks great on you. Thanks for supporting breast cancer awareness. I'm going to reach out to Marcy jams and have her watch your reaction to her strawberry jalapeño jam. She makes all types. Love from Tennessee
Cheese and cracker plates were common growing up. While opening gifts on Christmas Eve, the dining room table had one, along with a variety of Holiday cookies, breads, perhaps sweets like mom's homemade fudge and English toffee. (She was diabetic, so she wasn't able to eat the goodies she made.) Cheese and cracker trays were seen when gathering for Thanksgiving or when my folks would have friends over. (As kids, we were supposed to be in bed but we'd sneak in the kitchen to grab anything still left in the boxes.) A popular cracker was called Sociables, or perhaps RyKrisp. A fave meat 'spread' was liverwurst (on saltines). Sooo good. Your yummy platter has me wandering down memory lane. 😊
Love your videos! Cheese trays are a common thing in the US too, especially for potlucks or large family gatherings. Grocery stores often sell premade cheese trays but most people assemble their own.❤❤
Thank you 😂 I was thinking the same thing. We also but grapes & apples on ours too . I was thinking they think we don't have cheese trays I thought that's hilarious 😂 . We don't have it for a meal we serve it before the meal or for gatherings., but they are missing the one thing that I love with a cheese tray 🍷 WINE 😊
Charcuterie boards are like that, with cheese, crackers, spreads, jams, fruit, meats, etc. Really you can combine anything. We do that here in the USA too.
If you place your salsa, jams and jellies into ice cube trays, freeze them and store in the freezer covered with plastic wrap, all you have to do is pop out what you want and the remaining won't spoil.
Apple butter is usually spiced with cinnamon. Sometimes cloves and allspice too. Pumpkin butter is usually cinnamon, ginger and cloves. It can vary by recipe.
This looks delicious. I would have this as a meal!! Although it’s something I might serve when company comes to visit. As I’m Italian it would mostly have salamis, cheeses, olives crackers breads etc. Thank you for sharing your traditions with us
I generally dislike apple butter but it *is* excellent on pork chops or a pork loin. A friend of ours used to make a pepper jam and labeled it Cowboy Candy. She used to give a couple jars to my Dad every time she made it. He loved the stuff.
I live in Amish country and we have cheese & meats "trays" fairly often. OK, we have cheese, meats, crackers and bread without the tray, but still, the same thing. We have very several large cheese companies in the area, so we have some good, local, and not horribly expensive cheese. NOTE: you can freeze the jams right in their jars, so it won't go bad after you have a large amount opening/taste test.
What a great way to try these yummy jams, jellies, and apple butter! In the States, we would call your tray of crackers, bread, meat, and cheese, a Charcuterie board. This type of meal has really come on strong in the past few years. However, it is most commonly used as a party appitizer/side that would accompany the main dish or meal. Enjoyed the video! Thanks for all the smiles! Happy Thanksgiving to you both!
Apple butter is cooked for hours. My uncle use to have a family gathering,to make it. A really big pot hung over a wood fire. The woman folk coring and peeling the apples. The men tending the fire and stirring the apples. Stirring the apples was the hardest part ,it had to be done constantly. For like 6 hours. Of course we were making like 6 gallons of applebutter, everyone got a quart.
In the USA, we do charcuterie boards which include meats, cheeses, crackers, cookies, olives, pickles, etc. We don’t use cheese in a tube though. We do have spreadable cheese in crocks or tubs.
As a american mutt with Irish, Italian, and German blood our family has a large meat/ cheese tray for every holiday or event with more than two people.
What a great charcuterie board! We do similar and it's really based on personal taste! Figs, dates, honey, goats cheese, olives, all sorts of nuts, etc. Funny enough digestive are an English British UK thing, we just have cookies and granola bars etc. Never seen digestives in the store over the years
Carol your on the right track, use the apple butter as a glaze on pork chops, roasts ect.Try it with lightly toasted white bread without the butter so you get the full flavor on all the products as well.
I live in New England and we are fortunate because out in the country you can stop at any farm stand and get all kinds of homemade jams, jellies, butters etc. Also home grown honey and maple syrup. We take these flavors for granted because they are readilly available here.
An American meat/cheese spread would ALSO typically have green and black olives and pickles and maybe cocktail onions and possibly some pickled vegetables (onions, carrots, peppers, cauliflower et cetera) and maybe deviled eggs (MY FAVORITE).
Apple butter is good on toast (buttered or dry), on fresh made biscuits, or just about any type of bread. I've also put it on scrambled eggs, hash browns, and fried pork chops. You can make apple butter at home, but it is somewhat labor intensive, because you have to stir it very frequently to prevent burning.
Loved the video! Love a good cheese board! Love CHEESE! For years I ate lunch with a small group of co-workers (I am now retired). About twice a year we had a cheese and fruit day. Each person brought a cheese/fruit/bread/cracker/salami combination of their choice. We usually ate cheese for days. We still get together occasionally for lunch but haven’t had a cheese day for a while. Hmmm…I think I need to make some phone calls. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thumb print cookies..it's a homemade cookie that you put a Thumb in the middle and put jelly or jams in the middle. You could probably goggle it or am sure someone here would have their recipe...or when of your cookbooks . Utube would probably have a recipe too.
I know this is not a cooking show, but back to biscuits and gravy. Easy, breakfast sausage, no skin, flour, black pepper, salt, water, and I like heavy cream or just cream. Many good recipes on TH-cam. Biscuits also many good recipes on TH-cam. If you make it, you will enjoy, but second time, drop an over easy egg on with hash browns on the side. Tabasco is all you will need. For you Recky, catsup maybe?
Here I am, always trying to be helpful: Use apple butter or pumpkin butter on a cinnamon roll, on raisin (or other fruit) bread, or on a slice of spice cake or honey cake. Most any jam, preserve, marmalade, or fruit butter is a handy way to flavor yogurt or to top ice cream, or can be used as a spread between layers of cake. They also blend well into certain sauces for meat. And don't forget about peanut butter sandwiches! I have black raspberry plants in both my front yard and my back yard. They were not put there on purpose; they are there thanks to birds or squirrels dropping seeds. Last summer, I picked over 2000 berries. One way I used them was to stir just-picked berries into a little bit of compatible preserve (like the black raspberry jam you have), and then layer it with sponge cake and whipped topping to make individual-serving trifles, FRESH, several times a week.
39 almost 40 from West Virginia. My parents were older. Mom and dad born in 49 & 47 step dad in 44. So my grandparents were brn like 1918-20’s. I have a black and white OLD photo of my Great grandma churning up some apple butter in a cauldron in her front yard with a paddle.
I love a good cheese tray and yours looked delicious. Great reaction to the jams and jellies, might have to look for that strawberry jalapeno myself. Yum.
That looks so delicious! My family always had a cheese tray at Christmas and other holidays. I absolutely love spicy jam/jelly. I hope you both enjoyed the rest of that tray.
I have been cooking all morning, blaring Trans Siberian Orchestra in my Air Pods. This is a great excuse to take a break. Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you. Big Texas hugs and kisses being sent your way. Be Blessed.
Be sure to refrigerate them. Based on labels it appears they do not contain preservatives since some were locally made most likely made by Pennsylvania Amish or Mennonite women with fresh ingredients & not produced by a large company.
We love the pepper jellies with meat - warm up the jelly a bit to make it softer and use it as a glaze for baked chicken or pork. We have a local place that makes a peach jalepeno jelly to die for!
This brought back a memory! My kids and I used to "adopt" soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan during the wars, and we'd send them letters and packages. One of our adoptees was an MP (military police), so he had to deal with some pretty bad people. My kids wanted to make Christmas really special for him, so we sent a box that was similar to what you have there. We got two packages of what we call summer sausages that were made with game meats, one each of deer, elk and bison. We got some different cheeses, crackers, fancy mustard and such, and different kinds of Christmas sweets. Florencio wrote to us that he opened the box and looked at all the delicious things in it. He said, "There's so much here, I have to share this." He spent the next two seconds watching the box go empty! He said the other guys shared with him, though. My daughter thought that was so funny! His buddies shared with him, but it was HIS PACKAGE! LOL
Recky and Carol when I grew up as a kid the way my mother would always do it she'd take bread like this and cover it real heavily with butter toast it until it was golden brown and then put this stuff on there while it was still warm and I can taste and smell it just thinking about it she'd always do it with French bread and sourdough
Toast the sliced baguette on a tray in the oven…easy, fast, you can lightly pre-spread a garlic parsley flake and butter mix on both sides…if you can find them, New York bagel chips, garlic flavor (I discovered them in TX and now I can’t find them anywhere)
Sweet Chili rice chips [triangular again] are a second option. Third is mustard pretzel chips, but pretzel chips have spillage risk because they are holey.
We have red and black raspberries. When I was younger, I made all our jams and jellies. While the local Amish-made is better than store-bought, I still miss homemade.
Once you open jellies or jam put them in the refrigerator, they will still go bad over time but they will go bad quick sitting out. Can't say how long depending on room temperature, but will last weeks, sometimes months as long as it didn't expire yet.
One thing that do have here in the US is sweet jalapenos, they taste the same but they have no heat. Growing up my mom made homemade applebutter always a favorite she also made elderberry jam which is good also it turns the whites of cooked eggs green which was awesome as a kid because it remined us of Dr. Suess story. Great video i really enjoy watching you two.
We call them either charcuterie or antipasti boards, generally... this is just the Swedish 'version ' (with a little American contribution ;) ) Black raspberry - king of the 5's ;) as was Tabasco ... my 2 picks too. :)
I love the common charcuterie (shar-cute-er-eee) board we have between our 2 countries is so cute I still think the pepper jellys are better woth cream cheese on a cracker. My favorite jams are Goya's Guava jam & SMUCKERS or Dickinson's blackberry jam ( no seeds)
Apple butter is really good with pork too. One of the best things I ever smelled was a pork loin with a layer of apple butter on top roasting in the oven 🤤🐷🍎
Yesterday for supper, I had a jalapeño jelly with bacon and Swiss cheese grilled in butter sandwich. It is my new favorite thing!!! I think next time I will order it with a different cheese. The cheese had no flavor.
I think all those jellies would go well with pork of any sort since pig and fruity sauces are delicious. Salty ham, chops, bbq, bacon, sausage etc. Maybe try the raspberry with something chocolate. Even the pepper jellies might be yummy on a cheesecake? Possibilities are endless.
Apple butter usually has a very strong taste. I usually get it homemade here in Alabama, so maybe other states make it different. It is good on any buttered bread, biscuit, or cornbread. It is also good on pork chops and ham. I would have any of the jams on top of the salami on top of the cheese on buttered cracker or bread. I often eat bacon, cheese, and jam on a buttered biscuit. Don't worry you're doing it wrong, as we all have our on way of eating it. Meat and cheese trays are common here, especially during football game parties or big gatherings.
My favorites are strawberry, cherry, peach, apple, pineapple, and then grape, black raspberry, red raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and apricot. Plum is not a favorite. I also love bacon jam and Amish apple butter. They are all good in toasted PB&J sandwiches!

Wear it with pride! Sounds good. Hope she likes it!!
I think we've conquered the internet today. Recky and Carol BOTH loved the pepper jellies!
Cheese and cracker plates were common growing up. Wait, they have cheese in a tube but cheese in a can is weird??😂😂
😂😂
I was thinking if they pressurized that tooth paste tube they could have spray cheese too😁
Do we still have cheese in a tube in the US? I don’t buy stuff like that but I remember that from when I was a kid.
😅😅😅
Sweden has everything in a tube 😂
Pepper jelly with cream cheese on a ritz is a great combo
Oh, yes! We love pepper jelly with cream cheese on crackers.
Apple butter has cooked apples, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves..It is wonderful on a biscuit or toast..My grandmother made her own ...
Cheese trays are wonderful. We have grapes and different cold cuts with our cheese tray.
Charcuterie boards are like that, with cheese, crackers, spreads, jams, fruit, meats, etc. Really you can combine anything. We do that here in the USA too.
You really rock the pink Recky.
Apple butter in a warm buttered biscuit is heaven. Apple butter on buttered toast is a close second.
We use apple butter mostly on toast, biscuits, pancakes or waffles. There was always a jar sitting on my grandparents table!
Watching you two enjoy the jam and cheese warms my heart!
butter and black raspberry on warm cornbread is to die for in my opinion!
Also apple butter and pumpkin butter on cornbread!
If you place your salsa, jams and jellies into ice cube trays, freeze them and store in the freezer covered with plastic wrap, all you have to do is pop out what you want and the remaining won't spoil.
Recky needs a nap😂 we usually take naps on thanksgiving due to the food over load 😂😂👍👍
I hope they know to refrigerate the jams once opened.
Apple butter is usually spiced with cinnamon. Sometimes cloves and allspice too. Pumpkin butter is usually cinnamon, ginger and cloves. It can vary by recipe.
We do this...But, instead of jams we use fruit (apples, grapes, strawberries) along with different types of sweet and spicy mustards.
This looks delicious. I would have this as a meal!! Although it’s something I might serve when company comes to visit. As I’m Italian it would mostly have salamis, cheeses, olives crackers breads etc. Thank you for sharing your traditions with us
I love that Recky loved the strawberry & jalapeño jam! Love from New Mexico...
I take a bar of cream cheese and pour jalapeno jelly on it then just dip in your chip and enjoy
We do the same thing and dip with different crackers. Delicious!
I generally dislike apple butter but it *is* excellent on pork chops or a pork loin.
A friend of ours used to make a pepper jam and labeled it Cowboy Candy. She used to give a couple jars to my Dad every time she made it. He loved the stuff.
Apple butter is superb with pork. It makes a lovely glaze for pork chops.
I am making a cheese platter as an appetizer for Thanksgiving. I'll add some grapes and nuts to it.
I live in Amish country and we have cheese & meats "trays" fairly often. OK, we have cheese, meats, crackers and bread without the tray, but still, the same thing. would that be similar to an antipasti (antipasto) platter?
@@stpaley Yes. Most people include the same items on an antipasti tray on their charcuterie board.
Great video. Any of those jams would go great on a peanut butter sandwich. Currently I'm using boyensberry jam. Have a wonderful day.
There are both Black Raspberry and Red Raspberry Jams and Jellies. We eat them both on toast or on Peanut butter sandwiches.
Remember to put open jars in refrigerator
Cheese plates are very common in the USA. My favorite finger food.
I was trying to decide what to do for Family Christmas- we usually do appetizers and nibbles but a cheese tray would be perfect!
Any of the jalapeño or spicy jams are delicious on top of warmed Brie! It’s a common thing over here
Apple butter is cooked for hours. My uncle use to have a family gathering,to make it. A really big pot hung over a wood fire. The woman folk coring and peeling the apples. Great idea for trying all of those spreads and jams.
Some fruit and pepper combinations are great.
My favorite is mango and habanero
#5 says told you so!😂 If you keep trying the mild pepper stuff, you will begin to enjoy the hotter stuff because the flavor draws you in!
We call that a charcuterie board here in the states. Cheese, smoked meats, Crackers, fruit. Digestive biscuits are called Graham Crackers here
What a great charcuterie board! We do similar and it's really based on personal taste! Figs, dates, honey, goats cheese, olives, all sorts of nuts, etc. Funny enough digestive are an English British UK thing, we just have cookies and granola bars etc. Never seen digestives in the store over the years
I’m not even sure what a “digestive” is. A cracker or cookie?
@@katw3070 a cookie. I think they come in several flavors. Usually enjoyed dipped in tea like we'd have milk and cookies
It's like a bland graham cracker, digestive always sounds like some Metamucil fiber supplement.
@@katw3070 We call them cookies, they are plain cracker like cookies. Butter cookies or shortbread would be a good example.
Carol your on the right track, use the apple butter as a glaze on pork chops, roasts ect.Try it with lightly toasted white bread without the butter so you get the full flavor on all the products as well.
Recky"...but it was a nice heat"😢 of joy Miracles do happen.
You can also make pastries with the jam and butters in it
I live in New England and we are fortunate because out in the country you can stop at any farm stand and get all kinds of homemade jams, jellies, butters etc. Also home grown honey and maple syrup. We take these flavors for granted because they are readilly available here.
Proper apple butter has a strong taste.
put the jellies and jams on cornbread . with butter too , if desired .
An American meat/cheese spread would ALSO typically have green and black olives and pickles and maybe cocktail onions and possibly some pickled vegetables (onions, carrots, peppers, cauliflower et cetera) and maybe deviled eggs (MY FAVORITE).
Just like to wish everyone, Recky, Carol, kitty cats, and everyone out there ( all family ) a very Happy Thanksgiving ! God Bless and stay safe.

Thumb print cookies..it's a homemade cookie that you put a Thumb in the middle and put jelly or jams in the middle. You could probably goggle it or am sure someone here would have their recipe...or when of your cookbooks . Utube would probably have a recipe too.
We call them “raspberry caves”
I know this is not a cooking show, but back to biscuits and gravy. Easy, breakfast sausage, no skin, flour, black pepper, salt, water, and I like heavy cream or just cream. Many good recipes on TH-cam. Biscuits also many good recipes on TH-cam.

I think it's funny you both put butter on everything. I like the pepper jelly.
Meat and cheese platters are my absolute favorite snack, agree they can be VERY expensive though, but worth it.

Remember to make them last refrigerate them, they will last for months.
imake a cheese and meat tray for Christmas Eve
Pumpkin Butter with Gingersnap cookies... awesome !

As long as you don't butter the kitties, your ok. :) ; We put butter on lots of things too - I have found apple butter has a mild apple flavor.
Cold apple butter on Jiffy corn muffins cut in half.
Apple butter spice usually cinnamon and nutmeg. But have seen allspice added too.
If you have a crock pot apple butter is easy to make.

Any othe jams butters and jellies can be used to flavor sauces and fillinf in cakes on you can also transfer to a ziploc bag and freeze
I love the common charcuterie (shar-cute-er-eee) board we have between our 2 countries is so cute
I still think the pepper jellys are better woth cream cheese on a cracker.
My favorite jams are Goya's Guava jam & SMUCKERS or Dickinson's blackberry jam ( no seeds)

Exactly!
Apple butter is really good with pork too. One of the best things I ever smelled was a pork loin with a layer of apple butter on top roasting in the oven 🤤🐷🍎
