    Hi Jodie. My name is Bryce and I'm very new to watching booktubers and by far I'm so in live with the community and everything you guys do. I also want to say that your video on how to become a bookseller was probably the best video I've ever watched because all my life i always thought that i have to do what everyone wants me to do rather me asking myself what do I want to do. Books are more than just words on pages...they bring joy, adventure, action, romance, comedy, fantasy etc. And also I've been inspired by students that i work with who are also book readers and immediately got me hooked. And with that said I've applied for two of my local book stores and pray that i get the job and do something that I'm happy and love to do. So want to say thank you for your video and I'm gonna continue watching your channel. Have a great day 😎📕📚👍🏾

    I am a bookseller too and I love my job. I totally agree with your points. I am also so bubbly and I can talk about books for hours.
    I love it when I can recommend my favorite book to customers and they like it too.

    Great tips! I remember when I interviewed at Barnes & Noble I literally told my manager that becoming a bookseller was my dream job! And I’ve been with the company now for 10 years. I can’t see myself ever leaving to be honest

      Thank you! Amazing I said the same thing at my interview too and I feel the same way hehe!

    It’s my dream job too, and this year if I pass I will graduate!
    And if I’m lucky I want to apply to be an bookseller! I never liked reading infant I HATED it when I was a child. My parents would kinda „force“ me to read but when I asked them why reading was good for me they wouldn’t give me an good reason. But I went to an boarding school for 5 years, and reading there was an really important topic, but also we didn’t have our phones, so at 8th grade I started reading and realized how beautiful it can be, these stories I’ve read, cried, laughed. It gave me a lot of comfort!
    Whenever I want to buy an new book my parents would complain that I read to much, which is funny because they wanted me to read since day one.
    When I told people that I wanted to be an bookseller to other people they would tell me that, that Job Choice is not good because I have to talk to customers or because it’s „boring“ which made me really upset because I want to do an job where I can be happy, and do something that has something to do with my hobby.
    I don’t care about the money as long as I am happy!
    So to people who read my comment I hope that you can be an amazing bookseller, work at your dream city/ country! I hope you will be happy! And hopefully when you wake up beside you will be ALL the books that you wanted to read 💗🫶🏻

    I would love to be a bookseller so much, it's the dream, but I've applied to several Barnes and Noble's and no one has ever even given me an interview. It always surprises me because I would think they would love to have someone like me who is so passionate about reading and organizing books to work there. Like honestly if I could do any job, it would be this one. I haven't started watching the video yet at the time of writing this so I'll be really interested to hear what you have to say about it!

    • @VanillaMoon
      @VanillaMoon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really is a dream job I am so grateful for it. I hope you can get an interview sadly it is very competitive but I'd highly recommend some of the things I mentioned like the reviews on their website, getting to know the booksellers etc. I hope you maybe found something helpful through this video!

    Hi! I was waiting for this video! Quick question: do you think it's necessary to have any kind of degrees( maybe literature is smt) to be considered for a role in a bookshop? Thank you! 💓🦄

    📖 A lot of advice you gave and part of your job is very similar to be a Librarian. The only real difference is, at least, in America you have to have a Masters degree in Library & Information Science to be a Librarian. You can work in a library without a degree.

    • @VanillaMoon
      @VanillaMoon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s so interesting although I can imagine they are quite similar! ☺️ yes here in the UK I don’t believe a degree is necessary!

    I would love to do something like this eventually…I would imagine you need quite a hard skin to deal with some customers though? I get really upset by peoples comments sometimes. What job responsibilities do you have apart from the till and displaying books? Thank you for all the fab videos

    • @VanillaMoon

    Is the bookseller the same thing as a cashier? I would rather stand behind the counter and complete transactions all day than talk about books. Don't get me wrong, I love books.

      @@I05-e4s Alot of people like the music and taking at the same time. I have misophonia and my mind just won't let me hear both, it's either or for me. Sucks bad, believe me and I miss out on so much because of it.
